崔庄(zhuang)旧宅(zhai),厅事西有(you)南北屋(wu)各(ge)三楹,花竹(zhu)翳如(ru),颇为(wei)(wei)幽(you)僻。先(xian)祖在时(shi)(shi),奴子(zi)(zi)张(zhang)(zhang)云(yun)会夜往取茶(cha),目见垂鬟(huan)女(nv)子(zi)(zi)潜匿树下,背立向墙隅,意为(wei)(wei)宅(zhai)中小(xiao)婢(bi),于此(ci)幽(you)期。遽捉(zhuo)其(qi)臂,欲有(you)所(suo)挟。女(nv)子(zi)(zi)突转其(qi)面,白如(ru)傅粉,而无(wu)(wu)耳目口鼻,绝(jue)叫仆(pu)地。众(zhong)(zhong)持烛至(zhi),则无(wu)(wu)睹矣(yi)。或曰(yue)旧有(you)此(ci)怪,或曰(yue)张(zhang)(zhang)云(yun)会一(yi)时(shi)(shi)目眩,或曰(yue)实一(yi)黠婢(bi),猝为(wei)(wei)人(ren)阻,弗(fu)能(neng)遁。以素(su)巾幕面,伪为(wei)(wei)鬼状(zhuang),以自脱也(ye)(ye)。均未知其(qi)审。然自是(shi)群疑不释,宿是(shi)院者,恒凛凛,夜中亦(yi)(yi)往往有(you)声。盖人(ren)避弗(fu)居,斯鬼狐入之耳。又宅(zhai)东一(yi)楼,明(ming)隆庆初所(suo)建,右侧一(yi)小(xiao)屋(wu),亦(yi)(yi)云(yun)有(you)魅,虽不为(wei)(wei)害,然婢(bi)媪或见之。姚安(an)公一(yi)日(ri)检视废书,于簏下捉(zhuo)得二獾。众(zhong)(zhong)曰(yue):是(shi)魅矣(yi)。姚安(an)公曰(yue):獾弭首为(wei)(wei)童子(zi)(zi)缚,必(bi)不能(neng)为(wei)(wei)魅。然室(shi)无(wu)(wu)人(ren)迹,至(zhi)使野兽为(wei)(wei)巢穴(xue),则有(you)魅也(ye)(ye)。亦(yi)(yi)宜(yi)斯皆空(kong)穴(xue)来风(feng)之义也(ye)(ye)。后西厅析(xi)(xi)属从兄垣居,今(jin)归(gui)从侄汝(ru)侗;楼析(xi)(xi)属先(xian)兄睛湖,今(jin)归(gui)侄汝(ru)份。子(zi)(zi)侄日(ri)繁,家(jia)无(wu)(wu)隙地,魅皆不驱自去矣(yi)。
甲(jia)(jia)与(yu)乙(yi)相善,甲(jia)(jia)延(yan)乙(yi)理家(jia)政。及官(guan)抚军,并使佐官(guan)政,惟其言是(shi)从,久而赀财皆为所乾没,始悟其奸,稍稍谯责之(zhi)(zhi)。乙(yi)挟(xie)甲(jia)(jia)阴(yin)事(shi),遽反噬(shi)。甲(jia)(jia)不(bu)胜(sheng)愤,乃投牒(die)诉城(cheng)隍,夜梦城(cheng)隍语(yu)之(zhi)(zhi)曰:乙(yi)险恶如(ru)是(shi),公(gong)(gong)何以信任(ren)不(bu)疑。甲(jia)(jia)曰:为其事(shi)事(shi)如(ru)我意(yi)也(ye)。神喟然曰:人能事(shi)事(shi)如(ru)我意(yi),可畏(wei)甚矣,公(gong)(gong)不(bu)畏(wei)之(zhi)(zhi),而反喜(xi)之(zhi)(zhi),不(bu)公(gong)(gong)之(zhi)(zhi)绐(dai)而绐(dai)谁耶?渠恶贯将盈,终(zhong)必食报,若(ruo)公(gong)(gong)则自贻伊戚,可无庸(yong)诉也(ye)。此(ci)甲(jia)(jia)亲告(gao)姚安公(gong)(gong)者。事(shi)在雍正末年,甲(jia)(jia)滇人,乙(yi)越人也(ye)。
杜阳(yang)杂编(bian)记李辅(fu)国香玉辟(pi)邪事,殊怪异,多(duo)疑为(wei)小说荒(huang)唐(tang)。然(ran)世间(jian)实有(you)(you)香玉。先外(wai)祖母有(you)(you)一苍玉扇坠,云是曹化(hua)淳(chun)故物(wu),自明内(nei)府窃出,制作(zuo)朴(po)略(lve),随其(qi)形为(wei)双螭纠结状,有(you)(you)血斑(ban)数点(dian),色(se)如(ru)溶蠛,以手摩热(re)嗅之(zhi),作(zuo)沉香气;如(ru)不(bu)(bu)(bu)摩热(re)则不(bu)(bu)(bu)香。疑李辅(fu)国玉,亦不(bu)(bu)(bu)过如(ru)是。记事者点(dian)缀其(qi)词耳。先太(tai)夫人(ren)尝密乞(qi)之(zhi),外(wai)祖母曰:我死则传汝。后外(wai)祖母殁,舅(jiu)(jiu)氏疑在(zai)太(tai)夫人(ren)处(chu),太(tai)夫人(ren)又疑在(zai)舅(jiu)(jiu)氏处(chu),卫氏姨母曰:母在(zai)时(shi)佩此(ci)不(bu)(bu)(bu)去身(shen),殆携归黄壤矣。侍疾诸婢皆言殓时(shi)未见(jian)。因此(ci)又疑在(zai)卫氏姨母处(chu)。今(jin)姨母久亡,卫氏式微已甚,家藏玩好典卖(mai)绝(jue)尽,未见(jian)此(ci)物(wu)出鬻,竟不(bu)(bu)(bu)知其(qi)何往也。
有(you)客携柴窑片磁,索(suo)数(shu)(shu)百(bai)(bai)金。云(yun)嵌于(yu)胄,临阵可以辟火(huo)器(qi)。然无知有(you)确(que)(que)否。余(yu)曰:何不(bu)(bu)绳悬(xuan)此物,以铳(chong)发铅丸(wan)击(ji)(ji)之,如果辟火(huo),必不(bu)(bu)碎(sui),价数(shu)(shu)百(bai)(bai)金不(bu)(bu)为多(duo);如碎(sui),则(ze)辟火(huo)之说(shuo)不(bu)(bu)确(que)(que),理不(bu)(bu)能(neng)索(suo)价数(shu)(shu)百(bai)(bai)金也。鬻者(zhe)不(bu)(bu)肯(ken),曰:公于(yu)赏鉴非(fei)当行(xing),殊杀风景。即怀之去,后闻鬻于(yu)贵(gui)家(jia),竟(jing)得百(bai)(bai)金。夫(fu)君子可欺以其方,难罔以非(fei)其道,炮火(huo)横冲,如雷霆下击(ji)(ji),岂(qi)区(qu)区(qu)片瓦(wa)所能(neng)御?且雨过晴天(tian),不(bu)(bu)过盷色精妙耳,究由人(ren)造,非(fei)出(chu)神功(gong),何断(duan)裂之余(yu),灵尚有(you)如是耶(ye)?余(yu)作旧瓦(wa)砚歌有(you)云(yun),铜省(sheng)台址(zhi)颓(tui)无遗,何乃(nai)剩瓦(wa)多(duo)如斯(si),文(wen)士例有(you)好奇癖,心知其妄姑自欺。柴片亦此类(lei)而(er)已(yi)矣。
嘉(jia)峪关外,有(you)(you)阔石图岭,为(wei)(wei)哈密巴尔(er)(er)库(ku)(ku)尔(er)(er)界,阔石图译言碑也。有(you)(you)唐太宗时侯君集(ji)平(ping)高昌碑在山脊,守将砌以砖石,不(bu)使人读,云读之(zhi)则(ze)(ze)风雪立至,屡试皆不(bu)爽(shuang)。盖山神木石有(you)(you)精,示怪异以要血食,理固有(you)(you)之(zhi)。巴尔(er)(er)库(ku)(ku)尔(er)(er)又有(you)(you)汉顺帝时斐(fei)岑破呼衍王(wang)碑,在城西十(shi)里海子(zi)上(shang),则(ze)(ze)随(sui)人揭摹,了无(wu)他异。惟云海子(zi)为(wei)(wei)冷龙所(suo)居,城中不(bu)得鸣(ming)夜(ye)炮,鸣(ming)夜(ye)炮则(ze)(ze)冷龙震动,天必奇寒(han),是(shi)则(ze)(ze)不(bu)可以理推也。
李(li)(li)老人不(bu)知何许人,自(zi)称年(nian)已数(shu)百岁,无(wu)可(ke)考(kao)也(ye)。其(qi)言支(zhi)离荒(huang)杳,殆前(qian)明醒神之(zhi)(zhi)流(liu)。曩客先(xian)师钱文(wen)敏(min)公家,余曾见之(zhi)(zhi),符(fu)(fu)药治病,亦时(shi)(shi)有(you)(you)小验(yan)(yan)。文(wen)敏(min)次子寓京(jing)师水月(yue)庵,夜饮醉(zui)归,见数(shu)十厉鬼(gui)遮(zhe)路,因发狂自(zi)盺(xin)其(qi)腹(fu)。余偕(xie)陈裕斋倪余疆往视,血肉(rou)淋漓,仅存一息,似万(wan)万(wan)无(wu)生(sheng)理,李(li)(li)忽自(zi)来舁去,疗半月(yue)而(er)创合,人颇以(yi)为异(yi)。然文(wen)敏(min)公误信祝(zhu)由,割指上疣赘,创发病卒。李(li)(li)疗之(zhi)(zhi),竟无(wu)验(yan)(yan),盖符(fu)(fu)箓烧炼之(zhi)(zhi)术(shu)有(you)(you)时(shi)(shi)而(er)效(xiao),有(you)(you)时(shi)(shi)而(er)不(bu)效(xiao)也(ye)。先(xian)师刘(liu)文(wen)正公曰:神仙必有(you)(you),然非今之(zhi)(zhi)卖药道士;佛菩萨必有(you)(you),然非今之(zhi)(zhi)说法禅僧。斯真千(qian)古持平之(zhi)(zhi)论矣。
杨主(zhu)事(shi)盻,余甲辰典试(shi)所取士(shi)也(ye),相(xiang)法(fa)及推算八(ba)字五星皆有(you)验。官刑部(bu)时,与阮(ruan)吾山共事(shi),忽(hu)语(yu)人(ren)曰(yue)(yue):以(yi)我法(fa)论,吾山半月(yue)内当(dang)为刑部(bu)侍郎(lang),然今刑部(bu)侍郎(lang)不缺员,是何(he)故(gu)耶?次日堂参后,私语(yu)同官曰(yue)(yue):杜公缺也(ye)。既而杜凝台果(guo)有(you)伊犁之役(yi)。一(yi)日,仓皇乞假,归(gui)来辞余,问(wen)何(he)匆遽乃尔,曰(yue)(yue):家惟一(yi)子(zi)侍老父(fu),今推子(zi)某月(yue)当(dang)死,恐老父(fu)过哀,故(gu)急归(gui)耳。是时尚未至死期,后询其乡人(ren),果(guo)如(ru)所说,尤可(ke)异也(ye)。余尝问(wen)以(yi)子(zi)平家谓(wei)命(ming)有(you)定,堪舆家谓(wei)命(ming)可(ke)移,究谁为是,对(dui)曰(yue)(yue):能得吉(ji)地(di),即(ji)是命(ming),误葬(zang)凶(xiong)地(di),亦是命(ming),其理一(yi)也(ye)。斯言可(ke)谓(wei)得其通矣。
吉(ji)昌遣犯彭(peng)(peng)杞,一(yi)女年十(shi)七(qi),与(yu)其妻皆(jie)病瘵,妻先殁(mo)(mo),女亦(yi)垂尽。彭(peng)(peng)有(you)(you)(you)官田(tian)耕作,不(bu)能顾女,乃弃置(zhi)林(lin)内,听其生死(si),呻吟凄楚(chu),见者(zhe)心测。同遣者(zhe)杨皃语彭(peng)(peng)曰(yue):君大(da)(da)残忍,世宁有(you)(you)(you)是事(shi),我愿舁归(gui)疗治,死(si)则我葬,生则为(wei)我妻。彭(peng)(peng)曰(yue):大(da)(da)善,即(ji)书券(quan)付之(zhi)。越(yue)半(ban)载竟不(bu)起。临殁(mo)(mo)语杨曰(yue):蒙(meng)君高义(yi),感沁(qin)心脾,缘伉俪之(zhi)盟,老亲(qin)慷诺。故(gu)饮食寝处,不(bu)畏嫌疑。搔(sao)仰抚摩,都无(wu)(wu)避忌。然病骸憔悴,迄(qi)未(wei)能一(yi)荐枕衾,实多愧(kui)负,若殁(mo)(mo)而(er)(er)(er)无(wu)(wu)鬼(gui),夫复何言;若魂魄有(you)(you)(you)知,当(dang)必有(you)(you)(you)以奉报。呜咽而(er)(er)(er)终(zhong)(zhong)。杨涕泣葬之(zhi)。葬后(hou),夜夜梦女来狎昵欢(huan)好,一(yi)若生人(ren)。醒则无(wu)(wu)所(suo)睹(du),夜中呼之(zhi)终(zhong)(zhong)不(bu)出,才一(yi)交(jiao) 睫,即(ji)弛服横陈矣(yi)(yi)。往(wang)来既(ji)久,梦中亦(yi)知是梦,诘以不(bu)肯(ken)现形(xing)(xing)之(zhi)由(you)。曰(yue):吾闻(wen)诸鬼(gui)云,人(ren)阳(yang)而(er)(er)(er)鬼(gui)阴(yin)(yin),以阴(yin)(yin)侵阳(yang),必为(wei)人(ren)害(hai),惟睡则敛阳(yang)而(er)(er)(er)入阴(yin)(yin),可以与(yu)鬼(gui)相见。神虽遇(yu)而(er)(er)(er)形(xing)(xing)不(bu)接,乃无(wu)(wu)害(hai)也(ye)。此(ci)丁亥春事(shi)。至(zhi)辛卯(mao)春四年矣(yi)(yi)。余(yu)归(gui)之(zhi)后(hou),不(bu)知其究竟如(ru)何。夫卢充金碗,于(yu)古尝闻(wen);宋玉瑶姬(ji),偶然一(yi)见。至(zhi)于(yu)日日相觌皆(jie)在(zai)梦中,则载籍之(zhi)所(suo)希睹(du)也(ye)。
有(you)孟氏(shi)媪(ao)(ao)清明(ming)上(shang)冢归(gui),渴(ke)就(jiu)人家(jia)(jia)求饮(yin),见女(nv)子(zi)(zi)立树下,态殊婉娈。取(qu)水饮(yin)媪(ao)(ao)毕,仍邀共坐,意甚(shen)款洽。媪(ao)(ao)问其(qi)父母兄弟(di),对答具有(you)条(tiao)理(li)。因戏问已(yi)许嫁未,我为汝媒(mei)。女(nv)面(mian)赧避入,呼之不出。时(shi)已(yi)日暮,乃不别而行。越半载(zai),有(you)为媪(ao)(ao)子(zi)(zi)议婚者,询之即(ji)前女(nv),大喜过(guo)望,急促(cu)成(cheng)之。于归(gui)后(hou),媪(ao)(ao)抚其(qi)肩曰(yue):数月(yue)不见,汝更(geng)长成(cheng)矣(yi)。女(nv)错愕不知所对,细(xi)询始末,乃知女(nv)十岁(sui)失母,鞠于外(wai)氏(shi)五六(liu)年,纳币后(hou)始归(gui)。媪(ao)(ao)上(shang)冢时(shi),原未尝(chang)至家(jia)(jia)也。女(nv)家(jia)(jia)故外(wai)姓,又(you)颇窘乏,非媪(ao)(ao)亲见其(qi)明(ming)慧,姻未必(bi)成(cheng),不知是(shi)(shi)何(he)鬼(gui)魅托形(xing)(xing)以联(lian)其(qi)好,又(you)不知鬼(gui)魅何(he)所取(qu)义(yi),必(bi)托形(xing)(xing)以联(lian)其(qi)好。事有(you)不可理(li)推者,此类是(shi)(shi)矣(yi)。
交 河苏斗南,雍正癸丑会试归,至白沟河,与一友遇于酒肆中,友方罢官,饮醉后,牢骚抑郁,恨善恶之无报。适一人褶裤急装,系马于树,亦就对坐,侧听良久,揖其友而言曰:君疑因果有爽耶?夫好色者必病,嗜博者必败,势也劫财者必诛,杀人者必抵,理也。同好色而禀有强弱,同嗜博而技有工拙,则势不能齐;同劫财而有首有从,同杀人而有误有故,则理宜别论,此中之消息微矣,其间功过互偿,或以无报为报;罪福未尽,或有报而不即报,毫厘比较,益微乎微矣。君执目前所见,而疑天道难明,岂不值乎?且君亦何可怨天道,君命本当以流外出身,官至七品,以君机械多端,伺察多术,工于趋避,而深于挤排,遂削官为八品;迁八品之时,自谓以心计巧密,由九品而升,不知正以心计巧密,由七品而降也。因附耳而语,语乞大声曰:君忘之乎?因骇汗浃背,问何以能知微,笑曰:岂独我知,三界孰不知。掉头上马,惟见黄尘滚滚然,斯须灭迹。
