奇节(jie)异烈,演没无传者(zhe)(zhe),可(ke)胜道哉。姚安公闻诸(zhu)云台(tai)公曰:明季避乱时,见(jian)夫妇(fu)(fu)同逃者(zhe)(zhe),其(qi)(qi)(qi)夫似(si)有腰缠,一(yi)贼露刃追之(zhi)(zhi)急,妇(fu)(fu)忽回身屹(yi)立(li),待贼至,突抱其(qi)(qi)(qi)腰,贼以刃击之(zhi)(zhi),血流如注,坚(jian)不(bu)释手(shou)(shou),比气(qi)绝(jue)而仆(pu),则其(qi)(qi)(qi)夫脱去(qu)久矣。惜不(bu)得(de)其(qi)(qi)(qi)名姓。又闻诸(zhu)镇(zhen)番公曰:明季河北五省皆大饥,至屠人鬻(yu)肉,官弗能禁,有客(ke)在德(de)州(zhou)景州(zhou)间(jian)入逆旅餐,见(jian)少(shao)妇(fu)(fu) 裸体(ti)伏俎上,绷其(qi)(qi)(qi)手(shou)(shou)足(zu),方汲水洗(xi)涤。恐怖战(zhan)悚之(zhi)(zhi)状,不(bu)可(ke)忍(ren)视,客(ke)心悯测,倍偿赎之(zhi)(zhi),释其(qi)(qi)(qi)缚,助之(zhi)(zhi)著(zhu)衣。手(shou)(shou)触(chu)其(qi)(qi)(qi)乳,少(shao)妇(fu)(fu) 艴然曰:荷君(jun)再生,终身贱役无所悔(hui),然为婢媪(ao)则可(ke),为妾(qie)媵则必不(bu)可(ke),吾惟(wei)不(bu)肯事二夫,故鬻(yu)诸(zhu)此也,君(jun)何遽相轻(qing)薄耶?解衣掷(zhi)地,仍(reng)裸体(ti)伏俎上,瞑目受(shou)屠,屠恨之(zhi)(zhi),生割其(qi)(qi)(qi)股(gu)肉一(yi)脔,哀号而已,终无悔(hui)意。惜亦不(bu)得(de)其(qi)(qi)(qi)姓名。

肃宁王(wang)太(tai)夫人(ren),姚(yao)安公姨母也,言其(qi)乡有(you)(you)嫠妇(fu)(fu)(fu),与(yu)老姑(gu)抚孤子(zi),七八岁矣(yi)。妇(fu)(fu)(fu)故(gu)(gu)有(you)(you)色,媒妁屡(lv)至,不(bu)(bu)肯嫁,会(hui)子(zi)患痘甚危,延(yan)某医诊视,某医与(yu)邻媪(ao)密语曰:是证吾能(neng)治,然非妇(fu)(fu)(fu)荐枕,决不(bu)(bu)往(wang)。妇(fu)(fu)(fu)与(yu)姑(gu)皆怒谇,既而病将(jiang)殆,妇(fu)(fu)(fu)姑(gu)皆牵于溺爱,私议(yi)者彻夜(ye),竟饮泣曲从。不(bu)(bu)意(yi)施治已迟,迄不(bu)(bu)能(neng)救。妇(fu)(fu)(fu)悔恨投缳陨,人(ren)但(dan)以(yi)为(wei)痛子(zi)之故(gu)(gu),不(bu)(bu)疑(yi)有(you)(you)他。姑(gu)亦(yi)深讳其(qi)事,不(bu)(bu)敢显言。俄(e)而医死(si),俄(e)而其(qi)子(zi)亦(yi)死(si),室弗戒于火,不(bu)(bu)遗寸(cun)缕,其(qi)妇(fu)(fu)(fu)流落入青楼 ,乃偶以(yi)告所欢云。

余布衣萧(xiao)(xiao)客(ke)(ke)言(yan),有(you)(you)(you)(you)士(shi)人(ren)(ren)宿会稽山(shan)中,夜间隔涧有(you)(you)(you)(you)讲诵声,侧(ce)耳谛听,似谈古(gu)训估(gu),次(ci)日越涧寻访,杳无踪迹。徘徊数日,冀(ji)有(you)(you)(you)(you)所逢。忽(hu)闻木(mu)杪(miao)人(ren)(ren)语(yu)曰(yue):君嗜古(gu)乃尔(er),请此(ci)(ci)相(xiang)见(jian)。回(hui)顾之(zhi)(zhi)顷,石室(shi)(shi)洞开(kai),室(shi)(shi)中列坐数十人(ren)(ren),皆掩(yan)卷振衣,出相(xiang)揖让,士(shi)人(ren)(ren)视(shi)其(qi)(qi)案上,皆诸经注疏。居首坐者(zhe)拱手曰(yue):昔尼山(shan)奥旨(zhi),传(chuan)在经师(shi),虽旧本犹(you)存,斯文未(wei)(wei)丧,而(er)新说迭出,嗜古(gu)者(zhe)稀,先(xian)圣恐(kong)久而(er)渐(jian)绝,乃搜罗鬼录,征(zheng)召幽灵,凡历代通儒(ru)精(jing)魂尚(shang)在者(zhe),集于此(ci)(ci)地,考证遗(yi)文,以此(ci)(ci)转轮生于人(ren)(ren)世,冀(ji)递修(xiu)古(gu)学,延(yan)杏坛一(yi)线之(zhi)(zhi)传(chuan),子(zi)其(qi)(qi)记所见(jian)闻,告诸同志(zhi),知孔孟所式凭,在此(ci)(ci)不在彼(bi)也。士(shi)人(ren)(ren)欲(yu)有(you)(you)(you)(you)所叩,忽(hu)已梦醒,乃倚坐老松之(zhi)(zhi)下。萧(xiao)(xiao)客(ke)(ke)闻之(zhi)(zhi),裹(guo)粮(liang)而(er)往,攀萝(luo)扪葛,一(yi)月有(you)(you)(you)(you)余,无所睹而(er)返。此(ci)(ci)与朱子(zi)颖(ying)所述经香阁事大旨(zhi)相(xiang)类。或曰(yue):萧(xiao)(xiao)客(ke)(ke)喜谈古(gu)义,尝撰古(gu)经解钩沉,故士(shi)人(ren)(ren)投其(qi)(qi)所好以戏之(zhi)(zhi),是未(wei)(wei)可知。或曰(yue):萧(xiao)(xiao)客(ke)(ke)造此(ci)(ci)言(yan)以自托(tuo)降生之(zhi)(zhi)一(yi),亦未(wei)(wei)可知也。

姚(yao)安公(gong)官(guan)刑部日,同(tong)(tong)官(guan)王公(gong)守(shou)坤曰:吾(wu)夜梦(meng)人(ren)(ren)浴(yu)血立(li),而(er)不识(shi)其(qi)人(ren)(ren),胡 为(wei)乎来耶?陈(chen)公(gong)作梅曰:此君(jun)(jun)恒恐(kong)误杀人(ren)(ren),惴(zhui)惴(zhui)然(ran)如有所(suo)歉(qian),故缘(yuan)心造象耳。本无是鬼,何(he)(he)由识(shi)其(qi)为(wei)谁(shei)?且七八(ba)人(ren)(ren)同(tong)(tong)定一(yi)谳牍,何(he)(he)独见梦(meng)于(yu)君(jun)(jun),君(jun)(jun)勿(wu)自疑。佛公(gong)伦曰:不然(ran)。同(tong)(tong)事则一(yi)体(ti),见梦(meng)于(yu)一(yi)人(ren)(ren),即见梦(meng)于(yu)人(ren)(ren)人(ren)(ren)也。我辈(bei)治天(tian)下(xia)之(zhi)狱(yu),而(er)不能虑天(tian)下(xia)之(zhi)囚,据纸上之(zhi)供(gong)词,以断生死,何(he)(he)自识(shi)其(qi)人(ren)(ren)哉。君(jun)(jun)宜(yi)自儆,我辈(bei)皆宜(yi)自儆。姚(yao)安公(gong)曰:吾(wu)以佛公(gong)之(zhi)论为(wei)然(ran)。

吕太常含辉言(yan),京师有富室娶妇者,男女并韶秀,亲串皆(jie)望若神(shen)仙,窥其意(yi)态,夫妇亦甚相悦。次日天晓(xiao),门(men)不启,呼之(zhi)不应,穴(xue)窗窥之(zhi),则(ze)左(zuo)右(you)相对缢,视其衾已合(he)欢 矣(yi)。婢媪(ao)皆(jie)曰:是(shi)昨夕(xi)已卸装(zhuang),何又著(zhu)盛(sheng)服而死(si)耶?异(yi)哉,此狱虽皋(gao)陶(tao)不能听矣(yi)。

里婿宋(song)某(mou),所(suo)(suo)谓东乡(xiang)太岁者也(ye)。爱邻(lin)童(tong)(tong)秀丽(li),百计诱与狎,为童(tong)(tong)父所(suo)(suo)觉,迫童(tong)(tong)自(zi)缢(yi),其事隐密(mi)竟无人(ren)知(zhi)。一夕(xi)梦被拘至冥府,云为童(tong)(tong)所(suo)(suo)诉。宋(song)辩曰:本(ben)出(chu)相(xiang)怜,无相(xiang)害意(yi)。死(si)(si)由尔父,实出(chu)不(bu)虞。童(tong)(tong)言尔不(bu)诱我(wo),何缘(yuan)受(shou)淫(yin),我(wo)不(bu)受(shou)淫(yin),何缘(yuan)得死(si)(si),推原祸(huo)本(ben),非尔其谁?宋(song)又辩曰:诱虽由我(wo),从则(ze)由尔,回眸一笑,纵(zong)体(ti)相(xiang)从者谁乎?本(ben)未强(qiang)干,理难归过(guo)。冥官(guan)怒叱曰:稚(zhi)子(zi)无知(zhi),陷尔机井,饵(er)鱼充(chong)馔,乃(nai)反罪鱼耶?拍案(an)一呼,栗然惊悟(wu)。后(hou)官(guan)以贿败,宋(song)名(ming)丽(li)案(an)中,祸(huo)且不(bu)测,自(zi)知(zhi)业报,因以梦备告所(suo)(suo)亲,逮及狱(yu)成(cheng),乃(nai)仅拟城(cheng)旦。窃谓梦境无凭也(ye),比三载释归,则(ze)邻(lin)叟恨子(zi)之被污,乘其妇独居(ju),饵(er)以重币,己见金夫,不(bu)有(you)躬矣。宋(song)畏人(ren)多言,竟惭而自(zi)缢(yi)。然则(ze)前之幸免,岂非留以有(you)待示(shi)所(suo)(suo)作所(suo)(suo)受(shou),如(ru)影随形哉(zai)?

旧(jiu)仆(pu)邹(zou)明言,昔在(zai)丹阳县署,夜半如厕,过一空(kong)屋中(zhong),有男女谍狎声(sheng),以(yi)为(wei)内衙童仆(pu)幽(you)会于斯,惧为(wei)累,潜踪而(er)返。后(hou)月(yue)夜复(fu)闻(wen)之(zhi),从窗(chuang)隙窃窥,则内衙无此(ci)人,又时(shi)(shi)方冱冻,乃(nai)裸(luo)无寸缕(lv),疑为(wei)狐魅,于窗(chuang)外轻嗽(sou),倏然灭迹(ji)(ji)。偶与同(tong)伴语及,一火(huo)夫曰:此(ci)前官幕(mu)友某所(suo)居,幕(mu)友有雕牙秘(mi)戏(xi)像一盒,腹有机轮,自能运(yun)动,恒置枕函中(zhong),时(shi)(shi)出(chu)以(yi)戏(xi)玩,一日失去(qu),疑为(wei)同(tong)事(shi)者所(suo)藏,终后(hou)无迹(ji)(ji),岂此(ci)物为(wei)祟?遍索室(shi)中(zhong),迄不可(ke)得。以(yi)不为(wei)人害,亦(yi)不复(fu)追求(qiu)。殆常在(zai)茵席之(zhi)间,得人精气,久而(er)幻化欤。

外祖(zu)雪峰(feng)(feng)张公(gong)家,牡丹(dan)盛开,家奴李桂,夜见(jian)二女(nv)凭(ping)阑(lan)立,其一(yi)曰(yue)(yue):月(yue)色殊佳。其一(yi)曰(yue)(yue):此(ci)(ci)间绝少此(ci)(ci)花,惟佟氏园与此(ci)(ci)数(shu)株(zhu)耳。桂知(zhi)是狐(hu),掷片瓦(wa)击之,忽不见(jian)。俄而砖石(shi)乱飞,窗棂皆损,雪峰(feng)(feng)公(gong)自(zi)往视之,拱手曰(yue)(yue):赏花韵事,步月(yue)雅人(ren),奈何(he)与小人(ren)较量,致杀(sha)风景。语(yu)讫寂然。公(gong)叹(tan)曰(yue)(yue):此(ci)(ci)狐(hu)不俗。

佃户张九宝(bao)言,尝夏(xia)日锄(chu)禾毕(bi),天已欲(yu)暝,与众同(tong)坐田塍上,见火光一道(dao)(dao)如(ru)赤练(lian),自西南飞来(lai),突堕于地(di),乃一狐,苍(cang)白色,被创血流(liu),卧而(er)喘息,急举锄(chu)击之,复努力(li)跃起,化火光投东北去(qu)(qu)。后(hou)牵车(che)贩鬻至枣强(qiang),闻(wen)人言某(mou)家(jia)妇为狐所媚(mei),延道(dao)(dao)士核治,已捕(bu)得封(feng)卢中,儿童(tong)辈私揭(jie)其符,欲(yu)视狐何状,竟破监飞去(qu)(qu)。问其月日,正见狐堕之时也(ye)。此道(dao)(dao)士咒术,可(ke)云有验。然无奈童(tong)稚之窃窥(kui)。古来(lai)竭力(li)垂(chui)成(cheng),而(er)败于无知者(zhe)之子手,类如(ru)斯也(ye)。

老仆刘琪(qi)言其妇弟某(mou),尝(chang)夜独卧(wo)一(yi)室,榻在北牖(you),夜半(ban)觉有(you)手扪盭,疑为盗,惊(jing)起谛(di)视,其臂乃从南牖(you)探入,长殆(dai)丈许,某(mou)故有(you)胆,遽捉执之。忽一(yi)臂又破棂而入,径批(pi)其颊(jia),痛不(bu)可忍(ren),方回手支拒,所(suo)捉臂已(yi)掣去矣(yi)。闻窗外(wai)大声曰:尔今畏(wei)(wei)否,方忆(yi)昨(zuo)夕林下纳凉,与同辈(bei)自(zi)称不(bu)畏(wei)(wei)鬼(gui)也,鬼(gui)何(he)必欲人(ren)(ren)畏(wei)(wei),能(neng)使人(ren)(ren)畏(wei)(wei),鬼(gui)亦何(he)荣?以一(yi)语之故,寻衅求胜,此鬼(gui)可谓多(duo)事矣(yi)。裘文(wen)达(da)公尝(chang)曰:使人(ren)(ren)畏(wei)(wei)我(wo),不(bu)如使人(ren)(ren)敬我(wo)。敬发乎人(ren)(ren)之本(ben)心,不(bu)可强求,惜此鬼(gui)不(bu)闻此语也。

宗室瑶华道(dao)人(ren)(ren)言,蒙古(gu)某(mou)额驸尝射得一狐(hu),其后两足著红鞋,弓弯与女(nv)(nv)子无(wu)异。又沉少宰云椒言,李太仆敬室,少与一狐(hu)女(nv)(nv)往来,其太翁(weng)疑为邻女(nv)(nv),布灰于所,经之(zhi)路院中(zhong),足印作兽迹,至书室门(men)外,则(ze)足印作纤纤样矣。某(mou)额驸所射之(zhi)狐(hu),了无(wu)他异;敬堂(tang)所眷(juan)之(zhi)狐(hu),居数载别去。敬堂(tang)问何(he)时再晤,曰:君(jun)官至三(san)品当(dang)来迎(ying)。此(ci)语人(ren)(ren)多知之(zhi),后果验。

外叔祖张公雪堂言,十七八岁时,与数友月夜小集,时霜蟹初肥,新盰亦熟,酣洽之际,忽一人立席前,著草笠,衣石蓝衫,摄镶去履,拱手曰:仆虽鄙陋,然颇爱把酒持螯,请附末坐可乎?众错愕不测,姑揖之坐,问姓名,笑不答,但痛饮大嚼,都无一语。醉饱后蹶然起曰:今朝相遇,亦是前缘,后会茫茫,不知何日得酬高谊。语讫,耸身一跃,屋瓦无声,已莫知所在,视椅上有物粲然,乃白金一饼,约略敌是日之所费。或曰仙也,或曰术士也,或曰剧盗也。余为剧盗之说为近之。小时见李金梁辈,其技可以至此,又闻窦二东之党 ,二东献县剧盗,其兄曰大东,皆逸其名,而以乳名传。他书记载或作窦尔敦,音之转耳。每能夜入人家,伺妇女就寝,胁以力,禁勿语,并衾褥卷之,挟以越屋数十重,晓钟将动,仍卷之送还。被盗者惘惘如梦。一夕失妇家伏人于室,俟其送还,突出搏击,乃一手挥刀格斗,一手掷妇于床 上,如风旋电掣已无踪,殆唐代剑客之支流乎?
