一(yi)馆吏议叙得经历(li),需次会城,久不(bu)得差遣(qian),困顿殊甚,上官有(you)怜(lian)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)者,权(quan)令署典史(shi),乃(nai)大作(zuo)(zuo)威福(fu),复以气焰轹(li)同僚,缘是以他事(shi)落职。邵二云(yun)(yun)学士偶话及此(ci),因言(yan)其乡(xiang)有(you)人(ren)(ren)方夜读,闻窗(chuang)棂有(you)声,谛(di)视(shi)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),纸裂一(yi)罅,有(you)两小手擘之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),大才(cai)如(ru)瓜(gua)子,即有(you)一(yi)小人(ren)(ren)跃而入,彩(cai)衣红履(lv),头(tou)(tou)作(zuo)(zuo)双髻,眉目如(ru)画,高仅二寸(cun)余(yu),掣案头(tou)(tou)笔(bi)举(ju)(ju)而旋舞,往来腾踏于(yu)砚上,拖带墨沉,书卷俱污。此(ci)人(ren)(ren)初甚错(cuo)愕,坐观良久,觉似无(wu)他技,乃(nai)举(ju)(ju)手扑之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),激然就执,砓碈掌(zhang)握之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)中,音呦呦如(ru)虫(chong)鸟,似言(yan)乞命。此(ci)人(ren)(ren)恨甚,径于(yu)灯上烧(shao)杀之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),满室(shi)作(zuo)(zuo)枯柳木气,迄(qi)无(wu)他变(bian)。炼形甫(fu)成(cheng),毫无(wu)幻术,而肆然侮人(ren)(ren)以取(qu)祸,其此(ci)吏之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)类欤?此(ci)不(bu)知(zhi)实有(you)其事(shi),抑二云(yun)(yun)所戏造,然闻之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)亦足(zu)以戒也(ye)。
昌吉守备刘德言(yan),昔征(zheng)回部时,因有(you)急檄,取珠尔土斯(si)路驰往,阴晦失道,十余骑皆迷,裹粮垂尽,又(you)(you)无(wu)水泉,姑(gu)坐树根(gen),冀天晴辨(bian)南北。见崖(ya)下(xia)有(you)人马(ma)骨数(shu),虽风(feng)(feng)雪剥(bo)蚀,衣(yi)械(xie)并朽,察其形(xing)别,似是我兵。因对之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)慨叹曰:再(zai)两日(ri)不(bu)晴,与(yu)君辈在此为(wei)侣(lv)矣。顷之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)旋风(feng)(feng)起(qi)林(lin)外,忽(hu)来忽(hu)去,似若相(xiang)招(zhao),试(shi)纵马(ma)随之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),风(feng)(feng)即前(qian)导;试(shi)暂(zan)憩息(xi),风(feng)(feng)亦(yi)不(bu)行,晓然知(zhi)为(wei)斯(si)骨之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)灵(ling),随之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)返(fan)行三四十里,又(you)(you)度岭两重,始得旧(jiu)路。风(feng)(feng)亦(yi)碊然息(xi)矣。众哭拜之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)而去。嗟(jie)呼,生既捐躯,魂犹报国,精灵(ling)长在,而名(ming)氏翳如,是亦(yi)可悲(bei)也已(yi)。
谓无神(shen)仙,或云遇之(zhi)(zhi),谓有(you)神(shen)仙,又不(bu)恒遇。刘向(xiang)葛(ge)洪陶弘景以来(lai)记神(shen)仙之(zhi)(zhi)书(shu),不(bu)啻(chi)百家,所(suo)(suo)记神(shen)仙之(zhi)(zhi)名姓,不(bu)啻(chi)千人(ren)(ren)(ren),然后世(shi)皆不(bu)复言及。后世(shi)所(suo)(suo)遇,又自(zi)有(you)后世(shi)之(zhi)(zhi)神(shen)仙,岂保固(gu)精(jing)气,虽得久延,而究亦终(zhong)归迁化耶?又神(shen)仙清静,方士(shi)幻(huan)化,本(ben)各(ge)自(zi)一(yi)(yi)途,诸书(shu)所(suo)(suo)记,凡幻(huan)化者(zhe)(zhe)皆曰神(shen)仙,殊(shu)为(wei)无别。有(you)王(wang)媪者(zhe)(zhe),房(fang)山(shan)人(ren)(ren)(ren),家在(zai)深山(shan),尝告(gao)先母(mu)张太夫人(ren)(ren)(ren)曰:山(shan)有(you)道(dao)人(ren)(ren)(ren),年(nian)约六七十,居一(yi)(yi)小(xiao)庵,拾山(shan)果为(wei)粮,掬泉而饮,日夜击(ji)木鱼诵经(jing),从(cong)未一(yi)(yi)至人(ren)(ren)(ren)家,有(you)就其(qi)庵与语者(zhe)(zhe),不(bu)甚酬答,馈遗亦不(bu)受。王(wang)媪之(zhi)(zhi)侄碋于外,一(yi)(yi)夕(xi)归省(sheng)母(mu),过(guo)其(qi)庵前,道(dao)人(ren)(ren)(ren)大骇(hai)曰:夜深虎(hu)出(chu),尔安得行,须我(wo)送尔往,乃琅(lang)琅(lang)击(ji)木鱼前导,未半里果一(yi)(yi)虎(hu)突(tu)出(chu),道(dao)人(ren)(ren)(ren)以身障之(zhi)(zhi),虎(hu)自(zi)去,道(dao)人(ren)(ren)(ren)不(bu)别亦自(zi)去,后忽失所(suo)(suo)在(zai)。此或似仙欤?从(cong)叔(shu)梅庵公言,尝见有(you)人(ren)(ren)(ren)使童子(zi)登(deng)三层明(ming)楼上(shang)--北方以覆瓦(wa)者(zhe)(zhe)为(wei)暗楼,上(shang)层作稚堞形,以备卸寇者(zhe)(zhe)为(wei)明(ming)楼。以手招(zhao)之(zhi)(zhi),翩然而下(xia),一(yi)(yi)无所(suo)(suo)损,又以铜盂(yu)投溪(xi)中,呼之(zhi)(zhi)徐(xu)徐(xu)自(zi)浮(fu)出(chu)。此皆方士(shi)禁制之(zhi)(zhi)术,非(fei)神(shen)仙也。
舅氏张(zhang)公健(jian)亭(ting),言砖河农家,牧数牛于野,忽一(yi)时皆暴死,有(you)(you)道(dao)士过之,曰:此(ci)非真死,为(wei)妖鬼(gui)所(suo)摄耳(er),急灌以(yi)吾药(yao),使藏府勿坏,吾为(wei)尔核治,召其(qi)魂(hun)。因延至家,禹步作法,约(yue)半刻,牛果(guo)皆蹶然起。留之饭,不顾而去(qu)。有(you)(you)知其(qi)事(shi)者(zhe),曰此(ci)先以(yi)毒草(cao)置草(cao)中,后以(yi)药(yao)解之耳(er)。不肯受谢,示不图(tu)财,为(wei)再来荧惑(huo)地也(ye)。吾在山东,见(jian)此(ci)人行此(ci)术(shu)矣。此(ci)语一(yi)传,道(dao)士遂(sui)不复至。是(shi)方士之中,又有(you)(you)真伪(wei),何皆曰神仙哉。
李南涧言,其邻县(xian)一(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)生,故家(jia)子也。少年挑达,颇鱼(yu)猎男色,一(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)日,自亲串家(jia)饮归,距城稍(shao)远,云阴路(lu)黑(hei),度不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)及入,微(wei)雪(xue)又簌簌下(xia),方(fang)踌躇(chu)间(jian)(jian)(jian),见十许(xu)步(bu)外(wai)(wai)有(you)灯光,遣仆往视,则(ze)(ze)茅(mao)屋(wu)(wu)数间(jian)(jian)(jian),四无(wu)(wu)居人,屋(wu)(wu)中惟一(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)童(tong)一(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)妪(yu),问有(you)碐止处否,妪(yu)曰:子久(jiu)出外(wai)(wai),惟一(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)孙(sun)与我住此,尚(shang)有(you)空屋(wu)(wu)两间(jian)(jian)(jian),不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)嫌湫隘,可(ke)(ke)权宿也。遂呼童(tong)系二马树上(shang),而邀(yao)生入座。妪(yu)言老病须早睡,嘱童(tong)应客(ke)。童(tong)年约十四五,衣履破敝(bi),而眉目极姣(jiao)好,试挑与言,自吹火煮(zhu)茗不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)甚答。渐与谐(xie)笑,微(wei)似解意,忽乘间(jian)(jian)(jian)悄(qiao)语曰:此地密迩(er)祖母房,雪(xue)晴当亲至公家(jia)乞(qi)赏也。生大喜(xi)慰(wei),解绣囊玉碒赠之(zhi),亦羞涩而受,软语长久(jiu),乃掩门持灯去。生与仆倚壁倦憩,不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)觉昏睡,比醒则(ze)(ze)屋(wu)(wu)已不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)见,乃坐人家(jia)墓(mu)柏下(xia),狐裘(qiu)貂(diao)冠,衣瞯碔碕,俱(ju)已褫(chi)无(wu)(wu)寸缕矣。裸(luo)露雪(xue)中,寒不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)可(ke)(ke)忍,二马亦不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)知所(suo)在,幸仆衣未褫(chi),乃脱其敝(bi)裘(qiu)蔽(bi)上(shang)体,蹩躄而归,诡言遇盗。俄二马识路(lu)自归,已尽(jin)剪其尾(wei)鬣,衣冠则(ze)(ze)得于溷中,并狼籍(ji)污秽。灼然(ran)非盗,无(wu)(wu)可(ke)(ke)置词,仆始具(ju)泄其情状,乃知轻薄(bo)招(zhao)侮,为狐所(suo)戏也。
戊(wu)子昌(chang)吉之(zhi)乱(luan)(luan),先(xian)未有萌也(ye),屯(tun)(tun)官(guan)(guan)以八月十(shi)五夜犒诸流人(ren),置酒(jiu)山坡(po),男(nan)女杂坐(zuo)(zuo)。屯(tun)(tun)官(guan)(guan)醉后(hou),逼诸流妇使(shi)唱歌,遂(sui)顷(qing)刻激变,戕(qiang)杀屯(tun)(tun)官(guan)(guan),劫军装库,据其城。十(shi)六日(ri)晓(xiao),报(bao)至乌鲁(lu)木齐(qi),大学士温公促(cu)聚兵(bing),时班兵(bing)散在诸屯(tun)(tun),城中仅一百(bai)四(si)十(shi)七人(ren),然(ran)皆百(bai)战劲卒(zu),视(shi)贼(zei)(zei)蔑如(ru)也(ye),温公率之(zhi)即(ji)行至红山口,守备刘德(de)(de)叩(kou)马(ma)(ma)曰(yue):此(ci)去昌(chang)吉九十(shi)里(li),我驰一日(ri)至城下(xia)(xia),是(shi)彼(bi)逸而(er)(er)我劳,彼(bi)坐(zuo)(zuo)守而(er)(er)我仰攻(gong)(gong),非百(bai)余人(ren)所能(neng)(neng)办也(ye)。且此(ci)去昌(chang)吉皆平原,玛(ma)纳(na)斯河虽稍阔(kuo),然(ran)处处策马(ma)(ma)可(ke)(ke)渡(du),无险可(ke)(ke)扼(e)。所可(ke)(ke)扼(e)者,此(ci)山口一线路耳,贼(zei)(zei)得城必不(bu)(bu)株守,其势当即(ji)来,公莫如(ru)驻兵(bing)于此(ci),借(jie)陡崖遮(zhe)蔽,贼(zei)(zei)不(bu)(bu)知多寡,俟其至而(er)(er)扼(e)险下(xia)(xia)击(ji),是(shi)反攻(gong)(gong)为(wei)守,反劳为(wei)逸,贼(zei)(zei)可(ke)(ke)破也(ye)。温公从之(zhi),及(ji)贼(zei)(zei)将(jiang)至,德(de)(de)左执红旗(qi),右执利刃,令于众曰(yue):望其尘气,虽不(bu)(bu)过千人(ren),然(ran)皆亡命之(zhi)徒(tu),必以死斗,亦不(bu)(bu)易当,幸所乘皆屯(tun)(tun)马(ma)(ma),未经战阵(zhen),受创(chuang)必反走,尔等(deng)各擎(qing)枪屈一膝跪,但伏而(er)(er)击(ji)马(ma)(ma),马(ma)(ma)逸则(ze)人(ren)乱(luan)(luan)矣。又(you)令曰(yue):望影鸣(ming)枪,则(ze)枪不(bu)(bu)及(ji)贼(zei)(zei),火药先(xian)尽,贼(zei)(zei)至反无可(ke)(ke)用(yong)。尔等(deng)视(shi)我旗(qi)动,乃(nai)许(xu)鸣(ming)枪。敢先(xian)鸣(ming)者,手刃之(zhi)。俄(e)而(er)(er)贼(zei)(zei)众枪争(zheng)发,砰訇动地,德(de)(de)曰(yue):此(ci)皆虚发,无能(neng)(neng)为(wei)也(ye)。迨铅丸击(ji)前队(dui)一人(ren)伤(shang),德(de)(de)曰(yue):彼(bi)枪及(ji)我,我枪必及(ji)彼(bi)矣。举(ju)旗(qi)一挥(hui),众枪齐(qi)发,贼(zei)(zei)马(ma)(ma)果皆横(heng)逸,自相(xiang)冲击(ji),我兵(bing)噪而(er)(er)乘之(zhi),贼(zei)(zei)遂(sui)歼焉。温公叹(tan)曰(yue):刘德(de)(de)状貌(mao)如(ru)村翁,而(er)(er)临阵(zhen)镇定乃(nai)尔。参将(jiang)都司(si),徒(tu)善应对趋跄耳。故是(shi)役以德(de)(de)为(wei)首功,然(ran)捷报(bao)不(bu)(bu)能(neng)(neng)缕述曲折,今详著(zhu)之(zhi),庶不(bu)(bu)淹没焉。
由(you)乌鲁(lu)木(mu)齐(qi)至昌(chang)吉,南界(jie)天山,无路可上,北界(jie)苇湖,连天无际,淤泥深(shen)丈许,入(ru)(ru)者(zhe)辄(zhe)灭顶。贼之败也(ye),不西还据昌(chang)吉,而南北横奔,悉入(ru)(ru)绝地,以为(wei)惶遽迷瞀(mao)也(ye)。后执俘讯之皆曰:惊溃之时(shi),本欲(yu)西走,忽见关帝立(li)马云中,断其(qi)归路,故不得已而旁行,冀或匿(ni)免也(ye)。神之威(wei)灵,乃(nai)及于(yu)二万里外,国(guo)家之福祚,又(you)能(neng)致(zhi)神助于(yu)二万里外,猬锋螗斧,潢池(chi)盗弄(nong)何为(wei)哉。
昌吉未乱以前,通判赫尔喜奉檄调至乌鲁木齐核检仓库。及闻城陷,愤不欲生,请示温公曰:屯官激变,其反未必本心,愿单骑迎贼于中途,谕以利害,如其缚献渠魁,可勿劳征讨。旭其枭竟成群,不肯反正,则必手刃其帅,不与俱生。温公阻之不可,竟盏碖驰去,直入贼中,以大义再三开导。贼皆曰:公是好官,此无与公事。事已至此,势不可回。遂拥至路旁,置之去。知事不济,乃掣刀奋力杀数贼,格斗而死。当时公论惜之。曰:屯官非其所属,流人非其所治,无所谓纵也;衅起一时,非预谋不轨,无所谓失察也;奉调他出,身不在属,无所谓守御不坚,与弃城逃遁也。所劫者军装库,营弁所掌,无所谓疏防也。于理于法,皆可以无死,而终执与城共存亡之言,甘以身殉。推是志也,虽为常山睢阳可矣。故于其柩归,罔不哭奠,而于屯官之残骸归--屯官为贼以铁刚,自踵寸寸刚至顶,乱定后,始掇拾之。无焚一陌纸钱者。
