缘起首回

开宗(zong)明义闲评儿女英雄 引古证今(jin)演说(shuo)人情天理

侠烈英雄(xiong)本色,温柔儿女家风。两般若说不(bu)相同,除是痴(chi)人(ren)说梦(meng)。儿女无非天性,英雄(xiong)不(bu)外(wai)人(ren)情(qing)。最(zui)(zui)怜儿女最(zui)(zui)英雄(xiong),才是人(ren)中龙凤。

八句提(ti)纲道罢。这部(bu)评话(hua)原是(shi)(shi)不登大雅之堂的一(yi)种小(xiao)说,初(chu)(chu)名《金玉缘》,因(yin)(yin)所传的是(shi)(shi)首善京都(dou)一(yi)桩公案,又(you)名《日下新书》。篇中立旨(zhi)立言(yan)虽(sui)然(ran)无当于文(wen),却还一(yi)洗秽语淫词,不乖于正(zheng),因(yin)(yin)又(you)名《正(zheng)眼法藏五十三参》。初(chu)(chu)非释家(jia)言(yan)也,后经东(dong)海吾了翁重订,题(ti)曰《儿女英雄传评话(hua)》。相传是(shi)(shi)太平盛世一(yi)个燕北(bei)闲(xian)人所作。

据这燕(yan)北(bei)闲人(ren)(ren)自己(ji)(ji)说,他(ta)(ta)幼年(nian)在(zai)(zai)塾(shu)读书,适逢一(yi)(yi)日先生不(bu)在(zai)(zai)馆(guan)里(li),他(ta)(ta)读到"宰予(yu)昼寝"一(yi)(yi)章(zhang),偶然(ran)有(you)些困倦,便把书丢过一(yi)(yi)边,也学那(nei)(nei)圣门高弟隐几而卧。才得(de)睡着,便恍惚间出了(le)书房,来到街头(tou),只见(jian)憧憧扰扰,眼(yan)前(qian)换了(le)一(yi)(yi)番新(xin)世界:两旁歧途曲巷中,有(you)无(wu)数的(de)(de)车马辐辏(cou),冠盖(gai)飞扬,人(ren)(ren)往人(ren)(ren)来,十(shi)分热(re)闹(nao),当中却(que)有(you)一(yi)(yi)条(tiao)(tiao)无(wu)偏无(wu)颇的(de)(de)荡(dang)平(ping)大(da)路(lu)。这条(tiao)(tiao)路(lu)上(shang)只有(you)一(yi)(yi)个瘦骨锐头(tou)鬓发根(gen)根(gen)上(shang)指的(de)(de),在(zai)(zai)前(qian)面挺然(ran)直立(li)的(de)(de)走了(le)去。闲人(ren)(ren)一(yi)(yi)时正不(bu)知自己(ji)(ji)走那(nei)(nei)条(tiao)(tiao)路(lu)好,想要向(xiang)前(qian)面那(nei)(nei)个问问修途,苦于自己(ji)(ji)在(zai)(zai)他(ta)(ta)背后,等闲望不(bu)着他(ta)(ta)的(de)(de)面目。就(jiu)待一(yi)(yi)步(bu)一(yi)(yi)趋的(de)(de)赶上(shang)借问一(yi)(yi)声,不(bu)想他(ta)(ta)愈走愈远(yuan),那(nei)(nei)条(tiao)(tiao)路(lu)愈走愈高,眼(yan)前(qian)忽然(ran)一(yi)(yi)闪(shan),不(bu)见(jian)了(le)他(ta)(ta),不(bu)知不(bu)觉竟走到云端里(li)来了(le)。

却(que)说这座天乃(nai)是(shi)帝释天尊、悦意夫(fu)人所掌,掌的是(shi)古往今来(lai)忠臣孝(xiao)子、义夫(fu)节妇的后果前因。这日恰遇(yu)见(jian)天尊同了夫(fu)人升(sheng)殿,那燕北(bei)闲(xian)人便隐在一个僻(pi)静去(qu)处,一同瞻(zhan)仰。只见(jian)那:

天宫(gong)现彩,宝殿生云。仙乐悠(you)扬,香烟缭(liao)绕。左一(yi)行,排一(yi)层紫袍银带的(de)仙官(guan);右一(yi)行,列几名翠袖(xiu)霓裳(shang)的(de)宫(gong)嫔。阶下列着是白旄黄钺,彩节(jie)朱(zhu)幡(fan)。金盖、银盖、紫芝盖,映日飞扬;龙旗、凤旗、月华旗,随风招展。雕(diao)弓羽箭,飞鱼(yu)袋画着飞鱼(yu);玉辇(nian)金根,驯象(xiang)官(guan)牵着驯象(xiang)。

飞(fei)电(dian)马、追风马,跨上(shang)时电(dian)卷风驰;龙(long)(long)骧军、虎贲军,用着(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)他龙(long)(long)拿虎跳。一个个,一层(ceng)层(ceng),都(dou)齐(qi)臻臻静悄(qiao)悄(qiao)的分列两边。殿上(shang)龙(long)(long)案头设着(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)文房四宝,旁边摆着(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)一个朱红描金架(jia)子,架(jia)上(shang)插着(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)四面朱红绣(xiu)旗,旗上(shang)分列着(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)忠(zhong)孝节义(yi)四个大(da)字。

一时仙乐数声,画(hua)阁开(kai)处,左有金童,右有玉(yu)女,手提宝炉(lu),焚着白檀紫降,引了(le)那(nei)帝释天尊、悦(yue)意夫人出来(lai)。那(nei)天尊,头(tou)戴攒珠嵌宝冕(mian)旋,身穿海晏河清龙袞,足(zu)登朱丝履,腰(yao)系白玉(yu)鞓;那(nei)悦(yue)意夫人,不消说(shuo),自然是日月龙凤(feng)袄、山河地(di)理裙了(le)。身后(hou)一双日月宫扇(shan),簇拥着出来(lai)。

那时许多星官(guan)(guan)神将早(zao)排列在阶下,只听殿(dian)头官(guan)(guan)喝(he)道(dao):"有事(shi)出(chu)班(ban)(ban)(ban)早(zao)奏,无事(shi)卷(juan)帘退班(ban)(ban)(ban)。"只见班(ban)(ban)(ban)部(bu)丛中闪出(chu)四位金冠朱黻的天(tian)官(guan)(guan),各(ge)各(ge)手捧文(wen)册一(yi)卷(juan),上殿(dian)奏道(dao):"今日正有人(ren)间儿女英雄一(yi)桩公(gong)案该当发(fa)落(luo),请旨定(ding)夺。"早(zao)有殿(dian)上宫官(guan)(guan)接过那文(wen)册,呈到龙案上。天(tian)尊闪目一(yi)看,降旨道(dao):"这(zhei)班(ban)(ban)(ban)儿发(fa)落(luo)他(ta)阎浮(fu)人(ren)世(shi)去,须得先(xian)叫他(ta)明白了(le)前(qian)因后(hou)果,才免(mian)得怨天(tian)尤(you)人(ren)。

但是天机不(bu)可预泄,可将那天人(ren)宝镜放在(zai)案前,叫他各人(ren)一(yi)(yi)照,然后(hou)发落(luo)。"值殿(dian)官领旨,早有一(yi)(yi)集人(ren)抬过一(yi)(yi)座金(jin)镶玉琢、凤舞龙蟠的(de)(de)(de)(de)光明(ming)宝镜来(lai)。宝镜安顿完(wan)毕,天尊(zun)便(bian)把(ba)那架上(shang)的(de)(de)(de)(de)"忠(zhong)、孝、节(jie)、义"四(si)面(mian)旗(qi)儿发下来(lai),交付旁边(bian)四(si)个(ge)(ge)(ge)(ge)值殿(dian)官,捧到阶前,向空中只(zhi)一(yi)(yi)展,但见凭(ping)空里就现出许多(duo)(duo)人(ren)来(lai):为首的(de)(de)(de)(de)是个(ge)(ge)(ge)(ge)半老(lao)(lao)的(de)(de)(de)(de)儒者气象,装束得七品琴堂样(yang)子,同着(zhe)一(yi)(yi)个(ge)(ge)(ge)(ge)半老(lao)(lao)婆婆,面(mian)上(shang)一(yi)(yi)团(tuan)的(de)(de)(de)(de)慈祥(xiang)忠(zhong)厚。次后(hou)便(bian)是一(yi)(yi)个(ge)(ge)(ge)(ge)温文儒雅的(de)(de)(de)(de)白面(mian)书生,又是两个(ge)(ge)(ge)(ge)绝代女子:一(yi)(yi)个(ge)(ge)(ge)(ge)艳如桃李,凛若冰霜;一(yi)(yi)个(ge)(ge)(ge)(ge)裙布(bu)钗荆,端庄(zhuang)俏丽(li)。还有一(yi)(yi)个(ge)(ge)(ge)(ge)朱缨花袞的(de)(de)(de)(de)长(zhang)官,一(yi)(yi)个(ge)(ge)(ge)(ge)赤面(mian)白髯的(de)(de)(de)(de)壮(zhuang)士。又是一(yi)(yi)个(ge)(ge)(ge)(ge)淡妆嫠妇,两双中年(nian)老(lao)(lao)年(nian)夫妻(qi)。还有个(ge)(ge)(ge)(ge)六(liu)七分姿色的(de)(de)(de)(de)青(qing)衣侍(shi)婢。后(hou)面(mian)随着(zhe)许多(duo)(duo)男的(de)(de)(de)(de)女的(de)(de)(de)(de)、老(lao)(lao)的(de)(de)(de)(de)少的(de)(de)(de)(de)、村的(de)(de)(de)(de)俏的(de)(de)(de)(de),都俯(fu)伏在(zai)殿(dian)外。

天(tian)(tian)尊(zun)发落道:"尔等此(ci)番入世,务要认定自(zi)己行藏(zang),莫忘本(ben)来(lai)面(mian)目,可抬头向天(tian)(tian)人宝镜(jing)一照(zhao)(zhao)看!"众(zhong)人抬起头来(lai)一看,只(zhi)见(jian)那(nei)宝镜(jing)里初(chu)照(zhao)(zhao)是各人的(de)(de)本(ben)来(lai)面(mian)目,次后便见(jian)镜(jing)里大放光明(ming),从那(nei)片(pian)(pian)光里现出许多离合悲欢(huan)、荣(rong)枯休咎的(de)(de)因缘来(lai)。大众(zhong)看了,也(ye)(ye)有喜(xi)的(de)(de),也(ye)(ye)有怒的(de)(de),也(ye)(ye)有哀的(de)(de),也(ye)(ye)有乐的(de)(de)。这个扬眉吐气,那(nei)个掩目垂头,鼓舞一番,叹(tan)息一番。看够(gou)多时,只(zhi)见(jian)那(nei)宝镜(jing)中(zhong)金光一闪,结成了一片(pian)(pian)祥(xiang)云瑞霭(ai),现出了"忠、孝、节、义"四(si)个大字。众(zhong)人看了,一齐(qi)向上叩首,口中(zhong)齐(qi)祝"圣寿无疆"。那(nei)殿头官(guan)又(you)把旗儿一展,那(nei)些人依然凭空(kong)而去,愈去愈远,堕入云中(zhong),不(bu)见(jian)踪影。

悦意夫人向天(tian)尊(zun)道:"今(jin)日天(tian)尊(zun)的这(zhei)(zhei)番发落,可(ke)谓欢喜(xi)慈悲。只(zhi)是这(zhei)(zhei)班忠臣(chen)孝子、义夫节妇,虽然各人因(yin)果(guo)不同,天(tian)尊(zun)何(he)不大施法(fa)力(li),暗(an)中呵(he)护,使他(ta)不离(li)而合,不悲而欢,有(you)(you)荣无(wu)枯,有(you)(you)休无(wu)咎(jiu),也显得天(tian)尊(zun)的造化(hua),更可(ke)以培养无(wu)限天(tian)和。天(tian)尊(zun)意下何(he)如(ru)?"

天(tian)尊道:"夫(fu)人,你不见那(nei)后(hou)边的(de)许多(duo)人,便都(dou)是这班儿牵引的(de)线索(suo),护(hu)卫的(de)爪牙。至(zhi)于(yu)他各人到头来的(de)成(cheng)败,还要(yao)看他入世(shi)(shi)后(hou)怎的(de)个(ge)造因(yin),才知他没(mei)世(shi)(shi)时怎的(de)个(ge)结果。况这气数有(you)个(ge)一定,就是作(zuo)天(tian)的(de),也不过奉着气运而行,又(you)岂能合那(nei)气运相(xiang)扭?你我乐得高坐他化自(zi)在天(tian),看这桩儿女英雄公案,霎时好(hao)耍子(zi)也!"

悦意夫人(ren)道:"请问天尊,要作到(dao)怎的个地步才(cai)算(suan)得个'儿女(nv)英雄'?"

天(tian)尊道:"这(zhei)(zhei)'儿(er)(er)女(nv)英(ying)(ying)雄(xiong)'四(si)个(ge)(ge)字,如(ru)今(jin)世上(shang)人大(da)半把他看成两种人、两桩事:误把些使气(qi)角力、好(hao)勇(yong)斗(dou)狠的(de)(de)(de)认作英(ying)(ying)雄(xiong),又把些调脂(zhi)弄(nong)粉、断(duan)袖余桃的(de)(de)(de)认作儿(er)(er)女(nv)。所以一开口便(bian)道是(shi)(shi)'某(mou)(mou)某(mou)(mou)英(ying)(ying)雄(xiong)志(zhi)(zhi)短,儿(er)(er)女(nv)情长','某(mou)(mou)某(mou)(mou)儿(er)(er)女(nv)情薄,英(ying)(ying)雄(xiong)气(qi)壮'。殊不知有(you)了(le)英(ying)(ying)雄(xiong)至(zhi)性,才(cai)(cai)成就得(de)儿(er)(er)女(nv)心(xin)肠;有(you)了(le)儿(er)(er)女(nv)真(zhen)情,才(cai)(cai)作得(de)出英(ying)(ying)雄(xiong)事业。譬如(ru)世上(shang)的(de)(de)(de)人,立志(zhi)(zhi)要作个(ge)(ge)忠(zhong)臣(chen),这(zhei)(zhei)就是(shi)(shi)个(ge)(ge)英(ying)(ying)雄(xiong)心(xin),忠(zhong)臣(chen)断(duan)无不爱(ai)(ai)君的(de)(de)(de),爱(ai)(ai)君这(zhei)(zhei)便(bian)是(shi)(shi)个(ge)(ge)儿(er)(er)女(nv)心(xin);立志(zhi)(zhi)要作个(ge)(ge)孝(xiao)子(zi),这(zhei)(zhei)就是(shi)(shi)个(ge)(ge)英(ying)(ying)雄(xiong)心(xin),孝(xiao)子(zi)断(duan)无不爱(ai)(ai)亲的(de)(de)(de),爱(ai)(ai)亲这(zhei)(zhei)便(bian)是(shi)(shi)个(ge)(ge)儿(er)(er)女(nv)心(xin)。至(zhi)于'节义'两个(ge)(ge)字,从君亲推(tui)到(dao)兄(xiong)(xiong)弟(di)、夫(fu)妇、朋友的(de)(de)(de)相(xiang)处,同此一心(xin),理无二致。必(bi)是(shi)(shi)先有(you)了(le)这(zhei)(zhei)个(ge)(ge)心(xin),才(cai)(cai)有(you)古往今(jin)来那无数(shu)忠(zhong)臣(chen)烈士的(de)(de)(de)文死谏、武死战,才(cai)(cai)有(you)大(da)舜的(de)(de)(de)完廪浚井,秦伯、仲(zhong)雍的(de)(de)(de)逃(tao)至(zhi)荆蛮,才(cai)(cai)有(you)郊祁弟(di)兄(xiong)(xiong)的(de)(de)(de)问答(da),才(cai)(cai)有(you)冀(ji)缺夫(fu)妻(qi)的(de)(de)(de)相(xiang)敬,才(cai)(cai)有(you)汉光武、严子(zi)陵(ling)的(de)(de)(de)忘形。这(zhei)(zhei)纯(chun)是(shi)(shi)一团天(tian)理人情,没得(de)一毫矫(jiao)揉造作。浅言之,不过英(ying)(ying)雄(xiong)儿(er)(er)女(nv)常谈;细(xi)按(an)去,便(bian)是(shi)(shi)大(da)圣大(da)贤身份。

"但是要作到(dao)这个(ge)地(di)步,却也颇不容易。只(zhi)(zhi)我从(cong)开辟以来(lai),掌了这座天关。纵横九(jiu)万里(li),上(shang)下(xia)五(wu)(wu)千(qian)年(nian),求(qiu)其儿(er)女英雄、英雄儿(er)女一(yi)身(shen)兼备(bei)的(de)(de),也只(zhi)(zhi)见(jian)得(de)两个(ge):一(yi)个(ge)是上(shang)古女娲氏。只(zhi)(zhi)因他一(yi)时感动了一(yi)点儿(er)女心,不忍见(jian)那青天的(de)(de)缺陷,人(ren)面(mian)(mian)的(de)(de)不同,炼成(cheng)三(san)百(bai)六十五(wu)(wu)块半五(wu)(wu)色石,补好了青天,便完成(cheng)了浩劫一(yi)十二万九(jiu)千(qian)六百(bai)年(nian)的(de)(de)覆载;拈了一(yi)撮黄土,端(duan)正了人(ren)面(mian)(mian),便画一(yi)了寅会(hui)至(zhi)酉会(hui)八万六千(qian)四(si)百(bai)年(nian)的(de)(de)人(ren)形,从(cong)儿(er)女里(li)作出这番英雄事(shi)业来(lai),所以世(shi)人(ren)才号他作'神媒'。一(yi)个(ge)是掌释(shi)教(jiao)的(de)(de)释(shi)迦牟尼(ni)佛。只(zhi)(zhi)因他一(yi)时奋起一(yi)片英雄心,不许(xu)波斯(si)匿(ni)(ni)国(guo)那些婆罗门外(wai)道扰害(hai)众生,妄干国(guo)事(shi),自(zi)己割舍了储君的(de)(de)尊(zun)严富贵(gui),立(li)地(di)削发出家,明心见(jian)性,修成(cheng)个(ge)无声无色、无臭无味(wei)、无触无法的(de)(de)不坏金身(shen)。任那些外(wai)道邪魔,惹(re)不动他一(yi)毫的(de)(de)烦恼忧思恐怖,把那些外(wai)道普化得(de)皈依正道。波斯(si)匿(ni)(ni)国(guo)国(guo)王(wang)才落得(de)个(ge)国(guo)治身(shen)尊(zun),波斯(si)匿(ni)(ni)国(guo)众生才落得(de)个(ge)安居(ju)乐(le)业。

"到后(hou)来,父母同升佛果,元(yuan)配(pei)得证法(fa)华,善侣都(dou)转法(fa)轮,子弟并登无上。从英雄上透(tou)出这种儿女心肠(chang)来,所以众生都(dou)尊他(ta)为'大雄氏(shi)'。

"此外,三代以(yi)下,秦(qin)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)足道也(ye)。讲(jiang)英(ying)(ying)雄,第一个大(da)(da)略(lve)雄才(cai)的(de)(de)(de)莫如(ru)汉(han)(han)(han)高祖。他(ta)当那秦(qin)始皇并(bing)吞六国统一四(si)(si)海(hai)全盛(sheng)的(de)(de)(de)时(shi)候,只小(xiao)小(xiao)一个泗上(shang)亭长,手提三尺剑,从芒(mang)砀斩蛇起(qi)义(yi),便赤手创成了(le)(le)汉(han)(han)(han)家四(si)(si)百(bai)年(nian)江山(shan),似乎(hu)称得起(qi)个英(ying)(ying)雄气(qi)壮了(le)(le)。究竟称不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)起(qi),何也(ye)?暴秦(qin)无道,群雄并(bing)起(qi),逐鹿中(zhong)原,那汉(han)(han)(han)王(wang)(wang)(wang)(wang)与西楚(chu)霸王(wang)(wang)(wang)(wang)项(xiang)(xiang)羽连合(he)攻(gong)秦(qin),约(yue)先入(ru)关者王(wang)(wang)(wang)(wang)之(zhi)。汉(han)(han)(han)王(wang)(wang)(wang)(wang)乘那项(xiang)(xiang)王(wang)(wang)(wang)(wang)火咸阳、弑义(yi)帝(di)、降子婴、东荡西驰(chi)的(de)(de)(de)时(shi)候,早暗地里间(jian)道入(ru)关,进位称王(wang)(wang)(wang)(wang)。那项(xiang)(xiang)王(wang)(wang)(wang)(wang)是(shi)(shi)个'力拔山(shan)气(qi)盖世'的(de)(de)(de)脚色(se),枉(wang)费一番气(qi)力,如(ru)何肯休?便把汉(han)(han)(han)王(wang)(wang)(wang)(wang)的(de)(de)(de)太(tai)公(gong)俘了(le)(le)去,举火待烹(peng),却(que)特特的(de)(de)(de)着人(ren)(ren)知会他(ta),作(zuo)(zuo)个挟制。替汉(han)(han)(han)王(wang)(wang)(wang)(wang)设想(xiang),此时(shi)正(zheng)该(gai)重视太(tai)公(gong),轻(qing)视天下,学那'窃父而(er)(er)逃,遵(zun)海(hai)滨而(er)(er)处(chu),终(zhong)身欣然(ran)(ran),乐而(er)(er)忘(wang)天下'的(de)(de)(de)故事(shi),岂不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)是(shi)(shi)从儿(er)女(nv)中(zhong)作(zuo)(zuo)出来的(de)(de)(de)一个英(ying)(ying)雄?即(ji)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)然(ran)(ran),也(ye)该(gai)低首下心,先保(bao)全了(le)(le)太(tai)公(gong),然(ran)(ran)后布(bu)告天下,问罪兴师,合(he)项(xiang)(xiang)王(wang)(wang)(wang)(wang)大(da)(da)作(zuo)(zuo)一场(chang),成败在所(suo)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)计(ji),也(ye)还(hai)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)失为能(neng)屈能(neng)伸的(de)(de)(de)大(da)(da)丈夫本色(se)。怎生公(gong)然(ran)(ran)说:'我(wo)(wo)翁即(ji)而(er)(er)翁,而(er)(er)欲烹(peng)而(er)(er)翁,请分我(wo)(wo)一杯羹(geng)?'幸而(er)(er)项(xiang)(xiang)王(wang)(wang)(wang)(wang)无谋,被他(ta)这(zhei)(zhei)几(ji)句话牢(lao)笼住了(le)(le),不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)曾(ceng)作(zuo)(zuo)出来。倘(tang)然(ran)(ran)万有一失,他(ta)果的(de)(de)(de)谨遵(zun)台命,把太(tai)公(gong)烹(peng)了(le)(le),分杯羹(geng)来,事(shi)将(jiang)奈(nai)何?要说汉(han)(han)(han)王(wang)(wang)(wang)(wang)料定项(xiang)(xiang)王(wang)(wang)(wang)(wang)有勇无谋,断然(ran)(ran)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)敢下手,兵(bing)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)厌(yan)诈,即(ji)以(yi)君(jun)之(zhi)矛还(hai)置(zhi)君(jun)之(zhi)盾,那项(xiang)(xiang)王(wang)(wang)(wang)(wang)是(shi)(shi)个杀人(ren)(ren)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)眨眼的(de)(de)(de)魔君(jun),汉(han)(han)(han)王(wang)(wang)(wang)(wang)岂不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)深知?岂有以(yi)父子天亲(qin)这(zhei)(zhei)等(deng)赌气(qi)斗(dou)智的(de)(de)(de)?所(suo)以(yi)祸不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)旋踵(zhong),天假吕(lv)后,变起(qi)家庭,赵王(wang)(wang)(wang)(wang)如(ru)意死于鸩毒,戚夫人(ren)(ren)惨(can)极人(ren)(ren)彘,以(yi)致孝惠(hui)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)禄(lu)。这(zhei)(zhei)都(dou)因汉(han)(han)(han)高祖没有儿(er)女(nv)真情,枉(wang)作(zuo)(zuo)了(le)(le)英(ying)(ying)雄事(shi)业,才(cai)遗笑千古英(ying)(ying)雄!

"再要讲到(dao)儿(er)(er)女,第一个情深义重的莫如唐明皇。为了一个杨(yang)贵(gui)(gui)妃,焚香密誓,私(si)语告天(tian),道(dao)是'在天(tian)愿为比翼鸟(niao),在地(di)愿为连理枝'。这(zhei)番恩(en)爱,似乎算(suan)得是个儿(er)(er)女情长(zhang)了。究竟(jing)算(suan)不得,何也?当元宗天(tian)宝改(gai)元以后,把个杨(yang)贵(gui)(gui)妃宠得迭荡(dang)骄纵,帏薄不修。那杨(yang)贵(gui)(gui)妃的来历(li)倒也不消提起,致伤忠厚。

"独怪他既有个(ge)梅(mei)妃(fei)(fei)(fei)(fei),又想(xiang)着(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)杨(yang)妃(fei)(fei)(fei)(fei);及(ji)至(zhi)(zhi)得(de)(de)了杨(yang)妃(fei)(fei)(fei)(fei),便(bian)弃了梅(mei)妃(fei)(fei)(fei)(fei);又不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)能(neng)终弃梅(mei)妃(fei)(fei)(fei)(fei),以至(zhi)(zhi)惹下杨(yang)妃(fei)(fei)(fei)(fei)。自己左(zuo)右的(de)(de)两个(ge)人尚且(qie)调停不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)转(zhuan),又丢(diu)下六宫佳丽,私通三(san)国(guo)夫人。除(chu)了选色征歌之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)外,一(yi)概(gai)付之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)闻不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)问。任着(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)那五(wu)王交横(heng),奸(jian)相当权(quan),激反(fan)胡奴,渔阳兵起。他却有贼不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)讨,转(zhuan)把(ba)个(ge)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)稳(wen)的(de)(de)天(tian)下丢(diu)开不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)问,带上(shang)个(ge)受累的(de)(de)贵(gui)(gui)(gui)妃(fei)(fei)(fei)(fei),避祸(huo)而行。及(ji)至(zhi)(zhi)弄到兵变马(ma)(ma)嵬(wei),六军抗(kang)命,却又束手无(wu)策,不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)知(zhi)究(jiu)奸(jian)相、责(ze)骄帅、斩乱兵,眼睁(zheng)睁(zheng)的(de)(de)看(kan)着(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)人把(ba)个(ge)平(ping)(ping)日爱如性(xing)命的(de)(de)个(ge)宝贝(bei)生(sheng)(sheng)生(sheng)(sheng)逼死。息壤在彼,'七(qi)月七(qi)日长生(sheng)(sheng)殿'的(de)(de)话,岂忘(wang)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)乎(hu)?况(kuang)且(qie)《春(chun)秋》通例,法在诛(zhu)心。安禄山(shan)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)来(lai),为杨(yang)贵(gui)(gui)(gui)妃(fei)(fei)(fei)(fei)而来(lai),不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)是(shi)合唐家有甚的(de)(de)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)共戴天(tian)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)仇(chou)。唐明皇(huang)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)走,也(ye)明知(zhi)安禄山(shan)为着(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)杨(yang)贵(gui)(gui)(gui)妃(fei)(fei)(fei)(fei)而来(lai),合唐家没甚不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)共戴天(tian)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)仇(chou),所以才不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)辞蜀道艰难,护(hu)着(zhe)(zhe)(zhe)贵(gui)(gui)(gui)妃(fei)(fei)(fei)(fei)远(yuan)(yuan)避。及(ji)至(zhi)(zhi)贵(gui)(gui)(gui)妃(fei)(fei)(fei)(fei)既死,还(hai)瞻顾何来(lai)?自然就(jiu)该'王赫斯怒(nu)',拨转(zhuan)马(ma)(ma)头,馘(guo)安禄山(shan)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)首,悬之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)太白,也(ye)还(hai)博得(de)(de)个(ge)'失之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)东隅,收(shou)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)桑榆(yu)',给天(tian)下儿(er)女子(zi)吐(tu)一(yi)口气。何以又'三(san)郎(lang)郎(lang)当,三(san)郎(lang)郎(lang)当',愈(yu)走愈(yu)远(yuan)(yuan)!固(gu)无(wu)怪肃宗即位灵武(wu),不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)候成命。日后的(de)(de)南内(nei)西内(nei),左(zuo)迁右迁,父子(zi)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)间,愈(yu)弄愈(yu)弄出一(yi)番不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)好(hao)处的(de)(de)局面来(lai)。就(jiu)便(bian)杨(yang)贵(gui)(gui)(gui)妃(fei)(fei)(fei)(fei)以有限欢娱,无(wu)多受享,也(ye)使他落了一(yi)生(sheng)(sheng)笑柄,万古羞(xiu)名。这(zhei)都因唐明皇(huang)没有英雄(xiong)至(zhi)(zhi)性(xing),空谈些儿(er)女情肠(chang),才哭坏世间儿(er)女。可见'英雄(xiong)儿(er)女'四个(ge)字,除(chu)了神(shen)媒、大(da)(da)雄(xiong)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)外,一(yi)个(ge)有名的(de)(de)大(da)(da)度赤帝(di)子(zi)、风流(liu)李三(san)郎(lang)尚且(qie)消受不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)得(de)(de),勉力(li)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)来(lai),怎的(de)(de)能(neng)向平(ping)(ping)等众生(sheng)(sheng)身上(shang)求全责(ze)备?

"方今正值天(tian)上日午中天(tian),人间尧舜在上,仁风化雨所被,不知将来成全得多少儿女(nv)英雄。正好发(fa)落(luo)这班儿入世(shi),作一(yi)场儿女(nv)英雄公案,成一(yi)篇(pian)人情天(tian)理(li)文章,点缀(zhui)太平盛(sheng)事。这便是今日绣旗(qi)齐展,宝镜高(gao)悬,发(fa)落(luo)这桩公案的本意也。"

悦意夫人(ren)听了,一一领(ling)会。一切人(ren)天皆(jie)大欢喜。只见天尊把龙袖一摆,殿头(tou)官才喝(he)得声:"退班!"

那燕(yan)北闲人耳轮(lun)中只听得一片喧(xuan)哗,喊道:"捉!捉!捉!"

随(sui)着便(bian)是地(di)坼山崩价一声响(xiang)亮,吓得他(ta)一步踏空云脚(jiao),一个(ge)立足(zu)不稳,早从云端(duan)里落将下(xia)来(lai)。一跤跌醒,却是一场大梦。

睁开眼来看(kan)看(kan),但见(jian)院(yuan)子(zi)(zi)里(li)一班逃学的(de)(de)(de)孩子(zi)(zi),正在那(nei)里(li)捉(zhuo)迷藏耍(shua)子(zi)(zi),口里(li)只嚷道(dao):"捉(zhuo)!捉(zhuo)!捉(zhuo)!"面(mian)前却立着合他同砚的(de)(de)(de)一个(ge)新(xin)安毕生,手里(li)拿着一方界尺,拍的(de)(de)(de)那(nei)桌子(zi)(zi)乱响,笑嘻嘻的(de)(de)(de)叫道(dao):"醒(xing)来!醒(xing)来!清天(tian)白日,却怎的(de)(de)(de)这等酣睡?"他道(dao):"我正梦(meng)着一段新(xin)奇文章,不(bu)曾听(ting)得完(wan),却被你们(men)这般人来打断了。"说(shuo)着,便把他梦(meng)中所(suo)(suo)闻(wen)所(suo)(suo)见(jian),云端里(li)的(de)(de)(de)情书,详细告(gao)诉了那(nei)毕生一遍。

毕(bi)生(sheng)(sheng)道(dao):"先生(sheng)(sheng)不(bu)(bu)在馆,你看(kan)他大(da)家在那里捉(zhuo)迷(mi)藏,捉(zhuo)得好不(bu)(bu)热闹(nao)!我(wo)正要(yao)拉你去一(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)同作耍,你倒(dao)捉(zhuo)住(zhu)我(wo)说(shuo)这(zhei)云端里的(de)梦话。快来捉(zhuo)迷(mi)藏去!"说(shuo)着,拉了(le)他便走。那闲人也(ye)(ye)就(jiu)信步随了(le)他去,一(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)时早把梦中的(de)话忘(wang)了(le)一(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)半。不(bu)(bu)因他这(zhei)番一(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)个迷(mi)藏一(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)捉(zhuo),一(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)生(sheng)(sheng)也(ye)(ye)不(bu)(bu)曾(ceng)作得一(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)个好梦,只着了(le)半世昏迷(mi)。迷(mi)而不(bu)(bu)觉,也(ye)(ye)就(jiu)变成"不(bu)(bu)可圬也(ye)(ye)"的(de)一(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)堵"粪土之(zhi)墙","不(bu)(bu)可雕也(ye)(ye)"的(de)一(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)块"朽木",便落得作了(le)个"燕北闲人"。

列(lie)公牢记话(hua)头:只此正是那个(ge)燕北闲人的(de)来历(li),并(bing)他所以(yi)作(zuo)那部《正法眼藏五(wu)十三参》的(de)原由,便是吾(wu)了翁(weng)重订(ding)这(zhei)部《儿(er)女(nv)英(ying)雄传(chuan)评话(hua)》的(de)缘起(qi)。这(zhei)正是:

云外人(ren)传云外事,梦(meng)中话与梦(meng)中听。

要知这部书(shu)传的(de)(de)(de)是(shi)(shi)班甚么(me)人(ren),这班人(ren)作的(de)(de)(de)是(shi)(shi)桩甚么(me)事,怎的(de)(de)(de)个(ge)(ge)人(ren)情天理(li),又怎的(de)(de)(de)个(ge)(ge)儿女英(ying)雄,这回(hui)书(shu)才得是(shi)(shi)全部的(de)(de)(de)一个(ge)(ge)楔子(zi),但请参观,便见分(fen)晓。
