同(tong)年蔡芳三言,尝(chang)(chang)与(yu)诸(zhu)友游西山(shan),至深处见(jian)有微径,试(shi)缘而登,寂(ji)无居(ju)人(ren),只破(po)屋(wu)数间,苔(tai)侵草没,视壁上大书一(yi)我字,笔力险(xian)劲。因(yin)入观之,后有字迹,谛审乃二(er)诗,其(qi)(qi)(qi)一(yi)曰:溪头散步遇邻家,邀(yao)我同(tong)尝(chang)(chang)嫩蕨芽,携手(shou)贪论(lun)南渡事,不知触折亚枝(zhi)花。其(qi)(qi)(qi)二(er)曰:酒酣醉卧老松(song)前,露下空山(shan)夜悄(qiao)然,野(ye)鹿经(jing)年真见(jian)熟,也来分(fen)我绿(lv)苔(tai)眠。不著年月姓名,味其(qi)(qi)(qi)词(ci)意,似前代遗民。或以为仙笔,非(fei)也。又表弟(di)安中(zhong)宽(kuan),昔(xi)随木商出古北口,因(yin)访友至古尔(er)(er)板苏巴尔(er)(er)汉--俗称三座塔,即唐之营州,辽(liao)之兴中(zhong)府也。居(ju)停(ting)主人(ren)云,山(shan)家尝(chang)(chang)捕得一(yi)鹿,方缚(fu)就涧边屠割,忽绳寸(cun)寸(cun)断,蹶然逸去(qu)。遥见(jian)对山(shan)一(yi)戴笠人(ren),似举手(shou)指(zhi)画(hua),疑其(qi)(qi)(qi)以术禁制之。是(shi)山(shan)陡立,古无人(ren)踪(zong),或者(zhe)其(qi)(qi)(qi)仙欤。
先(xian)师何励庵(an)先(xian)生讳锈,雍正癸丑进(jin)士,官至宗人府(fu)主事,宦途坎(kan)坷,贫病(bing)以终,著(zhu)有(you)樵香(xiang)小记,多考(kao)证(zheng)经史疑义,今著(zhu)录(lu)四库全书中。为诗颇喜陆放(fang)翁,一(yi)日作怀(huai)诗曰(yue):冷署萧(xiao)条早放(fang)衙,闲官风(feng)味(wei)似山家(jia),偶来旧(jiu)友寻棋(qi)局,绝少余(yu)钱落画(hua)叉,浅碧(bi)好储(chu)消夏酒(jiu),嫣红已到殿春花,镜(jing)中频(pin)看(kan)头如雪,爱惜流光(guang)倍有(you)加。为余(yu)书于扇上,姚(yao)安公(gong)见之(zhi)沉吟曰(yue):何摧抑哀怨(yuan)乃(nai)尔,神志已颓乎?果以是年夏秋间谢世(shi)。古云诗谶(chen),理或有(you)之(zhi)。
赵鹿泉前辈言,吕城,吴吕蒙所筑也,夹河两岸,有二土神祠,其一为唐汾阳王郭子仪,已不可解;其一为袁绍部将颜良,更不省其所自来。土人祈祷,颇为灵应,所属境周十五里,不许置一关帝祠,置则为祸。有一县令不信,值颜祠社会,亲往观之,故令伶人演三国志杂剧,狂风忽(hu)起(qi),卷芦棚(peng)苫(shan)盖至(zhi)(zhi)空中(zhong),斗掷而(er)(er)下。伶人(ren)有死(si)者,所属(shu)十五里内(nei),瘟疫大(da)(da)作,人(ren)畜死(si)亡,令亦大(da)(da)病(bing)几殆。余谓两军(jun)相敌,各为(wei)(wei)其主,此胜(sheng)彼败,势(shi)不并(bing)存,此以(yi)(yi)公义(yi)杀人(ren),非(fei)以(yi)(yi)私(si)恨杀人(ren)也。其间以(yi)(yi)智(zhi)勇之(zhi)(zhi)略,败于意外者,其数在天(tian),不得而(er)(er)尤(you)人(ren);以(yi)(yi)驽(nu)下之(zhi)(zhi)才,败于胜(sheng)己者,其过在己,亦不得而(er)(er)尤(you)人(ren)。张(zhang)睢阳厉鬼杀贼,以(yi)(yi)社(she)稷安(an)危,争是(shi)(shi)一(yi)(yi)郡,是(shi)(shi)为(wei)(wei)君国而(er)(er)然(ran),非(fei)为(wei)(wei)一(yi)(yi)己而(er)(er)然(ran)也。使功(gong)成事定之(zhi)(zhi)后,殁于战阵者,皆挟以(yi)(yi)为(wei)(wei)仇,则(ze)古(gu)来名(ming)将,无不为(wei)(wei)鬼所殛矣(yi),有是(shi)(shi)理(li)乎?且颜(yan)良受歼(jian)已(yi)久,越一(yi)(yi)二千年,曾无灵响,何忽(hu)今日(ri)(ri)而(er)(er)为(wei)(wei)神,何乎今日(ri)(ri)而(er)(er)报怨?揆以(yi)(yi)天(tian)理(li),殆必不然(ran),是(shi)(shi)盖庙祝师巫,造为(wei)(wei)诡语(yu),山妖水(shui)怪,因民所荧惑而(er)(er)依砶之(zhi)(zhi)。刘敬叔(shu)异苑曰(yue):丹阳县(xian)有袁双庙,真第(di)四子也,真为(wei)(wei)桓宣武诛,便失所在,太元中(zhong)形(xing)见(jian)于丹阳,求(qiu)立庙,未(wei)即就功(gong),大(da)(da)有虎灾,被害之(zhi)(zhi)家辄梦双至(zhi)(zhi),催功(gong)甚急(ji)。百姓立祠,于是(shi)(shi)猛(meng)暴用息(xi)。常(chang)以(yi)(yi)二月晦,鼓舞祈祠,其日(ri)(ri)恒风雨。至(zhi)(zhi)元嘉五年,设奠讫,村人(ren)邱都于庙后见(jian)一(yi)(yi)物(wu),人(ren)面鼍身,葛巾,七孔端正而(er)(er)有酒气,未(wei)知为(wei)(wei)双之(zhi)(zhi)神,为(wei)(wei)是(shi)(shi)物(wu)凭(ping)也。余谓来必风雨,其为(wei)(wei)水(shui)怪无疑(yi)。然(ran)则(ze)是(shi)(shi)事古(gu)有之(zhi)(zhi)矣(yi)。
舅(jiu)氏(shi)张公梦征言--亦(yi)字尚文,讳景说。沧州(zhou)吴家(jia)庄东一(yi)(yi)小庵,岁久无僧,恒为(wei)(wei)往(wang)来憩息地,有月(yue)作(zuo)人,每于(yu)庵前(qian)遇(yu)一(yi)(yi)人,招之坐谈,颇相投契,渐(jian)与(yu)赴市沽饮,情益款(kuan)洽。偶询其乡(xiang)贯居址(zhi),其人愧谢曰(yue):与(yu)君(jun)交(jiao)厚,不敢欺,实(shi)此(ci)庵中老狐(hu)也(ye)。月(yue)作(zuo)人亦(yi)不怖畏,来往(wang)如(ru)初(chu)。一(yi)(yi)是(shi)复遇(yu),挈鸟铳(chong)(chong)相授曰(yue):余狎一(yi)(yi)妇,余弟(di)亦(yi)私与(yu)狎,是(shi)盗(dao)嫂(sao)也(ye)。禁之不止,殴之则余力不敌,愤(fen)不可忍,将(jiang)今夜(ye)伺之于(yu)路歧,与(yu)决(jue)生死(si),闻(wen)君(jun)善(shan)用(yong)铳(chong)(chong),俟交(jiao)斗时,乞(qi)发以击彼,感且(qie)不朽。月(yue)明(ming)如(ru)昼,君(jun)望之易辨(bian)也(ye)。月(yue)作(zuo)人诺之,即所指处(chu)伏草(cao)间,既而(er)私念曰(yue),其弟(di)无礼,诚当死(si),然(ran)究所媚之外妇,彼自有夫,非嫂(sao)也(ye),骨肉之间,宜善(shan)处(chu)置,必致之死(si),不太忍乎?彼兄(xiong)弟(di)犹如(ru)此(ci),吾(wu)时与(yu)往(wang)来,倘有睚眦,虑(lv)且(qie)及我(wo)矣。因乘(cheng)其纠结不解,发一(yi)(yi)铳(chong)(chong)而(er)两(liang)(liang)杀(sha)之。棠棣(di)之诗(shi)曰(yue):兄(xiong)弟(di)阋于(yu)墙,外御其侮(wu),家(jia)庭交(jiao)瞭,未有不归(gui)于(yu)两(liang)(liang)伤者。舅(jiu)氏(shi)恒举(ju)此(ci)事为(wei)(wei)子敕戒。盖(gai)是(shi)人负两(liang)(liang)狐(hu)归(gui),尝目睹也(ye)。
司庖杨媪言(yan),其(qi)(qi)(qi)乡某甲,将(jiang)死嘱其(qi)(qi)(qi)妇(fu)(fu)曰(yue):我(wo)(wo)生无(wu)余赀,身后汝(ru)(ru)(ru)母子(zi)(zi)(zi)必冻饿,四世单传,存此(ci)(ci)(ci)幼子(zi)(zi)(zi),今(jin)与(yu)汝(ru)(ru)(ru)约,不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)拘(ju)何人(ren),能为(wei)(wei)(wei)我(wo)(wo)抚(fu)孤则(ze)嫁之,亦不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)限服(fu)制月(yue)日(ri)(ri)食,尽则(ze)行。嘱讫(qi),闭目不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)更言(yan),惟呻吟待尽,越半日(ri)(ri),乃绝。有(you)(you)某乙闻(wen)其(qi)(qi)(qi)有(you)(you)色,遣媒妁(shuo)请如(ru)(ru)约,妇(fu)(fu)虽(sui)许婚(hun),以(yi)尚足(zu)自活(huo),不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)忍行,数(shu)月(yue)后不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)能举(ju)火,乃成礼。合卺之夜(ye),已灭烛就枕,忽闻(wen)窗(chuang)外(wai)叹(tan)息(xi)声(sheng),妇(fu)(fu)识其(qi)(qi)(qi)声(sheng),盘(pan)知(zhi)为(wei)(wei)(wei)故(gu)(gu)(gu)夫(fu)之魂,隔(ge)窗(chuang)呜(wu)咽(yan)语之曰(yue):君(jun)有(you)(you)遗(yi)言(yan),非(fei)我(wo)(wo)私(si)嫁,今(jin)夕之事,于势不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)得不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)然,君(jun)何以(yi)为(wei)(wei)(wei)祟(sui)(sui)。魂亦呜(wu)咽(yan)曰(yue):吾自来(lai)视(shi)儿,非(fei)来(lai)祟(sui)(sui)汝(ru)(ru)(ru),因(yin)闻(wen)汝(ru)(ru)(ru)啜泣(qi)卸妆,念贫(pin)故(gu)(gu)(gu),使汝(ru)(ru)(ru)至(zhi)于此(ci)(ci)(ci),心脾(pi)动,不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)觉(jue)喟然耳。某乙悸甚,急披(pi)衣起(qi)曰(yue):自今(jin)以(yi)往,所(suo)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)视(shi)君(jun)子(zi)(zi)(zi)如(ru)(ru)子(zi)(zi)(zi)者(zhe),有(you)(you)如(ru)(ru)日(ri)(ri)。灵语遂(sui)寂。后某乙耽玩艳妻(qi),足(zu)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)出户,而妇(fu)(fu)恒(heng)惘(wang)惘(wang)如(ru)(ru)有(you)(you)失(shi),某乙倍爱其(qi)(qi)(qi)子(zi)(zi)(zi)以(yi)媚之,乃稍稍笑语。七八(ba)载后,某乙病死,无(wu)子(zi)(zi)(zi),亦别无(wu)亲属(shu),妇(fu)(fu)据其(qi)(qi)(qi)赀,延(yan)师(shi)教(jiao)子(zi)(zi)(zi),竟(jing)得游泮。又为(wei)(wei)(wei)纳妇(fu)(fu),生两孙,至(zhi)妇(fu)(fu)年(nian)四十余,忽梦故(gu)(gu)(gu)夫(fu)曰(yue):我(wo)(wo)自随汝(ru)(ru)(ru)来(lai),未(wei)曾离此(ci)(ci)(ci),因(yin)吾子(zi)(zi)(zi)事事得所(suo),汝(ru)(ru)(ru)虽(sui)日(ri)(ri)与(yu)彼狎昵,而念念不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)忘我(wo)(wo),灯(deng)前(qian)月(yue)下,背人(ren)弹泪,我(wo)(wo)皆(jie)见之,故(gu)(gu)(gu)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)欲稍露形声(sheng),惊尔母子(zi)(zi)(zi),今(jin)彼已转(zhuan)轮,汝(ru)(ru)(ru)寿亦尽,余情未(wei)断,当(dang)随我(wo)(wo)同(tong)归(gui)也。数(shu)日(ri)(ri)果微(wei)疾,以(yi)梦告其(qi)(qi)(qi)子(zi)(zi)(zi),不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)肯(ken)服(fu)药,荏苒遂(sui)卒。其(qi)(qi)(qi)子(zi)(zi)(zi)奉棺(guan)合葬(zang)于故(gu)(gu)(gu)夫(fu),从其(qi)(qi)(qi)志也。程子(zi)(zi)(zi)谓饿死事小,失(shi)节(jie)事大,是(shi)诚千古之正理。然为(wei)(wei)(wei)一(yi)身言(yan)之耳。此(ci)(ci)(ci)妇(fu)(fu)甘(gan)辱一(yi)身,以(yi)延(yan)宗祀,所(suo)全者(zhe)大,似又当(dang)别论矣。杨媪能举(ju)其(qi)(qi)(qi)姓氏(shi)里居(ju),以(yi)碎璧归(gui)赵,究非(fei)完美,隐而不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)书,闵其(qi)(qi)(qi)遇悲(bei)其(qi)(qi)(qi)志,为(wei)(wei)(wei)贤者(zhe)讳(hui)也。又吾乡有(you)(you)再醮故(gu)(gu)(gu)夫(fu)之三从表弟者(zhe),两家所(suo)居(ju),距(ju)一(yi)牛鸣(ming)地,嫁后乃以(yi)亲串礼回视(shi)其(qi)(qi)(qi)姑(gu),三数(shu)日(ri)(ri)必一(yi)来(lai)问起(qi)居(ju),且时有(you)(you)赡助。姑(gu)赖以(yi)活(huo)。殁后,出赀敛葬(zang),岁(sui)恒(heng)遣人(ren)祀其(qi)(qi)(qi)墓(mu)。又京师(shi)一(yi)妇(fu)(fu)少(shao)寡(gua),虽(sui)颇有(you)(you)姿首,而针黹(zhi)烹饪,皆(jie)非(fei)所(suo)能,乃谋于翁姑(gu),伪(wei)称其(qi)(qi)(qi)女,鬻为(wei)(wei)(wei)宦家妾,竟(jing)养(yang)翁姑(gu)终身。是(shi)皆(jie)堕(duo)节(jie)之妇(fu)(fu),原(yuan)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)足(zu)称,然不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)忘旧恩,亦足(zu)励(li)薄俗(su)。君(jun)子(zi)(zi)(zi)与(yu)人(ren)为(wei)(wei)(wei)善,固(gu)应(ying)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)没(mei)其(qi)(qi)(qi)寸(cun)长(zhang)。讲学家持论务严,遂(sui)使一(yi)时失(shi)足(zu)者(zhe),无(wu)路自赎,仅(jin)甘(gan)心于自弃,非(fei)教(jiao)人(ren)补过(guo)之道也。
慧灯(deng)和(he)尚(shang)言,有举(ju)子于(yu)丰宜门外,租小庵过夏,地(di)甚(shen)(shen)幽(you)僻(pi)。一日,得揣摩秘(mi)本,于(yu)灯(deng)下手抄,闻窗外似浙浙有人,试(shi)问为谁(shei),外应曰(yue):身(shen)是幽(you)魂,沉滞于(yu)此,不闻书声者百余年(nian)矣,连日听(ting)君讽诵,枨触夙(su)心,思一晤谈,以消郁结,与君气(qi)类(lei),幸(xing)勿(wu)相惊。语讫,揭帘径(jing)入(ru),举(ju)止(zhi)温(wen)雅,甚(shen)(shen)有士风(feng)。举(ju)子惶(huang)怖呼(hu)寺僧,僧至(zhi),鬼亦不畏,指一椅曰(yue):师(shi)且坐,我故识师(shi),师(shi)素(su)朴野,无丛林市井气(qi),可共语也。僧及举(ju)子俱踧踖不能答,鬼乃探取所录书,才阅数行,遽掷之于(yu)地(di),奄然而(er)灭。
杨雨亭言,莱州深山有童子牧羊,日恒亡一二,大为主人扑责,留意侦之,乃二大蛇从山罅出,吸之吞食,其巨如瓮,莫敢撄也。童子恨甚,乃谋于其父,设犁刀于山罅,果一蛇裂腹死。惧其偶之报复,不敢复牧于是地,时往潜伺,寂无形迹,意其他徒矣。半载以后,贪是地水草胜他处,乃驱羊往牧,牧未三日,而童子为蛇吞矣。盖潜匿不出以诱童子之来也。童子之父有心计,阳不搜索,而阴祈营弁,藏一抱于深草中,时密往伺察,两月以外,见石上有蜿蜒痕,乃载燧夜伏其旁。蛇果下饮于涧,簌簌有声,遂一发而糜碎焉。还家之后,忽发狂自挝曰:汝计杀我夫,我计杀汝子,适相当也。我已深藏不出,汝又百计以杀我,则我为枉死矣,今必不舍汝。越数日而卒。俚谚有之曰:角力不解,必同仆地,角饮不解,必同沉醉。斯言虽小,可以喻大矣。
