贞观二年(nian)(nian),隋通(tong)事舍人(ren)(ren)(ren)郑仁(ren)基(ji)女(nv)年(nian)(nian)十六七,容色(se)绝(jue)姝,当时(shi)莫及,文(wen)德皇(huang)后访(fang)求得之,请备嫔御(yu),太(tai)(tai)宗(zong)乃(nai)聘为(wei)充(chong)华。诏(zhao)书已出(chu),策使(shi)未(wei)(wei)发。魏征闻(wen)(wen)其已许(xu)嫁陆(lu)氏(shi)(shi),方遽进而(er)言曰:“陛下(xia)为(wei)人(ren)(ren)(ren)父(fu)(fu)母(mu),抚爱 百姓,当其所(suo)(suo) ,乐其所(suo)(suo)乐。自古有(you)(you)道之主(zhu),以(yi)百姓之心为(wei)心,故君(jun)处台榭(xie),则(ze)(ze)欲(yu)民有(you)(you)栋宇之安;食膏(gao)粱,则(ze)(ze)欲(yu)民无饥(ji)寒之患;顾嫔御(yu),则(ze)(ze)欲(yu)民有(you)(you)室(shi)家(jia)(jia)之欢。此(ci)(ci)人(ren)(ren)(ren)主(zhu)之常道也。今郑氏(shi)(shi)之女(nv),久(jiu)已许(xu)人(ren)(ren)(ren),陛下(xia)取之不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)疑,无所(suo)(suo)顾问,播(bo)之四海,岂为(wei)民父(fu)(fu)母(mu)之道乎?臣(chen)传(chuan)闻(wen)(wen)虽或(huo)未(wei)(wei)的,然(ran)恐亏损圣德,情不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)敢(gan)隐。君(jun)举必书,所(suo)(suo)愿特(te)留神虑。”太(tai)(tai)宗(zong) 闻(wen)(wen)之大(da)惊,手诏(zhao)答之,深自克责,遂停策使(shi),乃(nai)令(ling)(ling)女(nv)还旧夫(fu)。左仆射(she)房玄(xuan)龄、中(zhong)书令(ling)(ling)温彦(yan)博(bo)、礼部尚书王、御(yu)史(shi)大(da)夫(fu)韦挺等(deng)云(yun): “女(nv)适 陆(lu)氏(shi)(shi),无显(xian)然(ran)之状(zhuang),大(da)礼既行,不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)可(ke)中(zhong)止。”又陆(lu)氏(shi)(shi)抗表云(yun): “某父(fu)(fu) 康在日,与(yu)郑家(jia)(jia)往还,时(shi)相赠遗(yi)资财,初(chu)无婚姻(yin)交涉(she)亲(qin)戚。”并云(yun): “外人(ren)(ren)(ren)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)知,妄有(you)(you)此(ci)(ci)说。 ”大(da)臣(chen)又劝进。太(tai)(tai)宗(zong)于是颇以(yi)为(wei)疑,问征曰 :“群臣(chen)或(huo)顺(shun)旨,陆(lu)氏(shi)(shi)何为(wei)过(guo)尔分疏(shu)?”征曰: “以(yi)臣(chen)度(du)之,其意可(ke) 识(shi),将以(yi)陛下(xia)同于太(tai)(tai)上皇(huang)。”太(tai)(tai)宗(zong)曰: “何也? ”征曰: “太(tai)(tai)上皇(huang)初(chu) 平京城,得辛(xin)处俭(jian)妇,稍蒙宠(chong)遇(yu)。处俭(jian)时(shi)为(wei)太(tai)(tai)子(zi)舍人(ren)(ren)(ren),太(tai)(tai)上皇(huang)闻(wen)(wen)之不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)悦(yue),遂令(ling)(ling)出(chu)东宫为(wei)万年(nian)(nian)县,每怀(huai)战惧,常恐不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)全(quan)首领。陆(lu)爽以(yi)为(wei)陛下(xia)今虽容之,恐后阴加谴谪,所(suo)(suo)以(yi)反复自陈,意在于此(ci)(ci),不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)足为(wei)怪。” 太(tai)(tai)宗(zong)笑曰:“外人(ren)(ren)(ren)意见,或(huo)当如此(ci)(ci)。然(ran)朕之所(suo)(suo)言,未(wei)(wei)能(neng)使(shi)人(ren)(ren)(ren)必信。” 乃(nai)出(chu)敕曰:“今闻(wen)(wen)郑氏(shi)(shi)之女(nv),先已受(shou)人(ren)(ren)(ren)礼聘,前出(chu)文(wen)书之日,事不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)详审(shen),此(ci)(ci)乃(nai)朕之不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)是,亦为(wei)有(you)(you)司之过(guo)。授充(chong)华者(zhe)宜(yi)停。”时(shi)莫不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)称叹。
贞观叁年,诏关中免二年租税,关东给复一年。寻有敕:“已役 已纳,并遣输纳,明年总为准折。”给事中魏征上书曰:“伏见八月 九日诏书,率土皆给复一年,老幼相欢,或歌且舞。又闻有敕,丁已配役,即令役满折造,余物亦遣输了,待明年总为准折。道路之人,咸失所望。此诚平分百姓,均同七子。但下民难与图始,日用不足,皆以国家追悔前言,二叁其德。臣窃闻之,天之所辅者仁,人之所助者信。今陛下初膺大宝,亿兆观德。始发大号,便有二言,生八表之疑心,失四时之大信。纵国家有倒悬之急,犹必不可,况以泰山之安,而辄行此事!为陛下为此计者,于财利小益,于德义大损。臣诚智识浅短,窃为陛下惜之。伏愿少览臣言,详择利益。冒昧之罪,臣所甘心。”
简点(dian)(dian)(dian)使(shi)右仆射(she)封德彝等,并(bing)(bing)欲中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)男十八(ba)(ba)已(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)上(shang),简点(dian)(dian)(dian)入(ru)(ru)(ru)军(jun)。敕(chi)叁(san)(san)四(si)出,征(zheng)执(zhi)奏以(yi)(yi)为(wei)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)可(ke)。德彝重(zhong)奏:“今(jin)见简点(dian)(dian)(dian)者云,次男内大(da)有(you)(you)壮者 。”太(tai)宗(zong)怒(nu),乃(nai)出敕(chi):“中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)男已(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)上(shang),虽未十八(ba)(ba),身(shen)形(xing)壮大(da),亦(yi)(yi)取(qu)。” 征(zheng)又(you)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)从,不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)肯署敕(chi)。太(tai)宗(zong)召征(zheng)及王(wang)(wang),作(zuo)(zuo)色而(er)待之(zhi)(zhi),曰(yue)(yue): “中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)男若(ruo)(ruo) 实小,自不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)点(dian)(dian)(dian)入(ru)(ru)(ru)军(jun);若(ruo)(ruo)实大(da),亦(yi)(yi)可(ke)简取(qu)。于君(jun)(jun)何(he)(he)嫌?过(guo)作(zuo)(zuo)如(ru)(ru)此固执(zhi),朕不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)解(jie)公意!”征(zheng)正(zheng)色曰(yue)(yue): “臣闻竭泽取(qu)鱼,非(fei)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)得鱼,明(ming)年(nian)(nian)无(wu)(wu)鱼; 焚(fen)林而(er)畋(tian),非(fei)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)获兽,明(ming)年(nian)(nian)无(wu)(wu)兽。若(ruo)(ruo)次男已(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)上(shang),尽点(dian)(dian)(dian)入(ru)(ru)(ru)军(jun),租(zu)(zu)赋杂徭,将何(he)(he)取(qu)给?且比年(nian)(nian)国(guo)家(jia)卫(wei)士,不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)堪(kan)攻战。岂为(wei)其(qi)(qi)少?但为(wei)礼遇(yu)失(shi)所(suo)(suo),遂(sui)使(shi)人(ren)无(wu)(wu)斗心。若(ruo)(ruo)多点(dian)(dian)(dian)取(qu)人(ren),还充杂使(shi),其(qi)(qi)数(shu)虽众,终是(shi)无(wu)(wu)用。若(ruo)(ruo)精简壮健,遇(yu)之(zhi)(zhi)以(yi)(yi)礼,人(ren)百其(qi)(qi)勇,何(he)(he)必(bi)在多?陛下(xia)每云,我之(zhi)(zhi)为(wei)君(jun)(jun),以(yi)(yi)诚信(xin)(xin)待物(wu)(wu),欲使(shi)官(guan)人(ren)百姓(xing),并(bing)(bing)无(wu)(wu)矫(jiao)伪之(zhi)(zhi)心。自登(deng)极已(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)来(lai),大(da)事(shi)(shi)叁(san)(san)数(shu)件,皆是(shi)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)信(xin)(xin),复何(he)(he)以(yi)(yi)取(qu)信(xin)(xin)于人(ren)?”太(tai)宗(zong)愕然曰(yue)(yue): “所(suo)(suo)云不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)信(xin)(xin),是(shi)何(he)(he) 等也?”征(zheng)曰(yue)(yue): “陛下(xia)初(chu)即(ji)(ji)位,诏书曰(yue)(yue): ‘逋(bu)租(zu)(zu)宿(su)债,欠负官(guan)物(wu)(wu),并(bing)(bing) 悉(xi)原免(mian)。’即(ji)(ji)令所(suo)(suo)司(si),列(lie)为(wei)事(shi)(shi)条(tiao),秦府国(guo)司(si),亦(yi)(yi)非(fei)官(guan)物(wu)(wu)。陛下(xia)自秦王(wang)(wang)为(wei)天子,国(guo)司(si)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)为(wei)官(guan)物(wu)(wu),其(qi)(qi)余物(wu)(wu)复何(he)(he)所(suo)(suo)有(you)(you)?又(you)关(guan)中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)免(mian)二年(nian)(nian)租(zu)(zu)调,关(guan)外给复一年(nian)(nian)。百姓(xing)蒙恩,无(wu)(wu)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)欢悦。更(geng)有(you)(you)敕(chi)旨:‘今(jin)年(nian)(nian)白丁多已(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)役讫, 若(ruo)(ruo)从此放(fang)免(mian),并(bing)(bing)是(shi)虚荷国(guo)恩,若(ruo)(ruo)已(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)折已(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)输,令总纳取(qu)了,所(suo)(suo)免(mian)者皆以(yi)(yi)来(lai)年(nian)(nian)为(wei)始。’散还之(zhi)(zhi)后(hou),方更(geng)征(zheng)收,百姓(xing)之(zhi)(zhi)心,不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)能无(wu)(wu)怪。已(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)征(zheng)得物(wu)(wu),便点(dian)(dian)(dian)入(ru)(ru)(ru)军(jun),来(lai)年(nian)(nian)为(wei)始,何(he)(he)以(yi)(yi)取(qu)信(xin)(xin)?又(you)共(gong)理所(suo)(suo)寄,在于刺史、县(xian)令,常年(nian)(nian)貌(mao)税,并(bing)(bing)悉(xi)委之(zhi)(zhi)。至于简点(dian)(dian)(dian),即(ji)(ji)疑(yi)其(qi)(qi)诈伪。望下(xia)诚信(xin)(xin),不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)亦(yi)(yi)难(nan)乎(hu)?”太(tai)宗(zong)曰(yue)(yue): “我见君(jun)(jun)固执(zhi)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)已(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi),疑(yi)君(jun)(jun)蔽此事(shi)(shi)。今(jin)论国(guo)家(jia)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)信(xin)(xin),乃(nai)人(ren) 情不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)通。我不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)寻思,过(guo)亦(yi)(yi)深(shen)矣。行(xing)事(shi)(shi)往往如(ru)(ru)此错失(shi),若(ruo)(ruo)为(wei)致理?”乃(nai) 停中(zhong)(zhong)(zhong)男,赐金瓮一口(kou),赐绢五十匹。
贞(zhen)观(guan)五年(nian)(nian)(nian),治书侍(shi)御(yu)(yu)史权(quan)(quan)万(wan)纪(ji)(ji)、侍(shi)御(yu)(yu)史李仁(ren)发,俱以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)告讦谮(jian)毁,数蒙(meng)引见,任(ren)心(xin)(xin)弹射,肆其(qi)(qi)(qi)(qi)欺(qi)(qi)(qi)罔,令(ling)在上震(zhen)怒,臣(chen)(chen)(chen)(chen)下(xia)(xia)(xia)无(wu)(wu)以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)自(zi)(zi)安。内外(wai)知(zhi)(zhi)其(qi)(qi)(qi)(qi)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)可(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke),而(er)莫(mo)能(neng)论诤。给事(shi)(shi)中(zhong)(zhong)魏征正色而(er)奏之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue):“权(quan)(quan)万(wan)纪(ji)(ji)、李仁(ren) 发并是(shi)(shi)小人(ren)(ren),不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)识大(da)(da)体,以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)谮(jian)毁为(wei)是(shi)(shi),告讦为(wei)直(zhi)(zhi),凡所(suo)(suo)弹射,皆非(fei)有(you)(you)(you)(you)(you)罪(zui)。陛(bi)下(xia)(xia)(xia)掩其(qi)(qi)(qi)(qi)所(suo)(suo)短(duan),收其(qi)(qi)(qi)(qi)一(yi)切(qie),乃(nai)(nai)骋其(qi)(qi)(qi)(qi)奸计,附(fu)下(xia)(xia)(xia)罔上,多(duo)行(xing)无(wu)(wu)礼,以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)取强直(zhi)(zhi)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)名。诬房玄(xuan)龄(ling),斥退张亮(liang),无(wu)(wu)所(suo)(suo)肃厉(li),徒损(sun)(sun)圣明。道路(lu)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)人(ren)(ren),皆兴(xing)谤议。臣(chen)(chen)(chen)(chen)伏(fu)度圣心(xin)(xin),必(bi)(bi)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)为(wei)谋(mou)虑深长,可(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)委(wei)以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)栋梁之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)任(ren),将(jiang)以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)其(qi)(qi)(qi)(qi)无(wu)(wu)所(suo)(suo)避忌(ji),欲(yu)(yu)以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)警厉(li)群臣(chen)(chen)(chen)(chen)。若(ruo)信(xin)狎回邪,犹不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)可(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)小谋(mou)大(da)(da),群臣(chen)(chen)(chen)(chen)素(su)无(wu)(wu)矫(jiao)伪,空使(shi)(shi)臣(chen)(chen)(chen)(chen)下(xia)(xia)(xia)离(li)心(xin)(xin)。以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)玄(xuan)龄(ling)、亮(liang)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)徒,犹不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)可(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)得伸其(qi)(qi)(qi)(qi)枉(wang)直(zhi)(zhi),其(qi)(qi)(qi)(qi)余疏贱,孰能(neng)免其(qi)(qi)(qi)(qi)欺(qi)(qi)(qi)罔?伏(fu)愿陛(bi)下(xia)(xia)(xia)留意再思。自(zi)(zi)驱(qu)使(shi)(shi)二(er)人(ren)(ren)以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)来(lai),有(you)(you)(you)(you)(you)一(yi)弘(hong)益(yi),臣(chen)(chen)(chen)(chen)即(ji)甘心(xin)(xin)斧钺,受不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)忠(zhong)(zhong)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)罪(zui)。陛(bi)下(xia)(xia)(xia)纵未(wei)(wei)(wei)能(neng)举善以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)崇德,岂(qi)(qi)可(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)进奸而(er)自(zi)(zi)损(sun)(sun)乎?”太(tai)宗欣然(ran)纳之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),赐征绢五百(bai)匹。其(qi)(qi)(qi)(qi)万(wan)纪(ji)(ji)又奸状(zhuang)渐露(lu) ,仁(ren)发亦解黜(chu),万(wan)纪(ji)(ji)贬连州司马。朝廷咸相(xiang)庆贺(he)焉。贞(zhen)观(guan)六(liu)年(nian)(nian)(nian),有(you)(you)(you)(you)(you)人(ren)(ren)告尚书右丞魏征,言(yan)(yan)其(qi)(qi)(qi)(qi)阿党亲戚(qi)。太(tai)宗使(shi)(shi)御(yu)(yu)史大(da)(da)夫(fu)温彦(yan)博(bo)案验(yan)其(qi)(qi)(qi)(qi)事(shi)(shi),乃(nai)(nai)言(yan)(yan)者(zhe)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)直(zhi)(zhi)。彦(yan)博(bo)奏称,征既为(wei)人(ren)(ren)所(suo)(suo)道,虽(sui)在无(wu)(wu)私(si),亦有(you)(you)(you)(you)(you)可(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)责。遂令(ling)彦(yan)博(bo)谓征曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue):“尔谏正我数百(bai)条(tiao),岂(qi)(qi)以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)此(ci)(ci)小事(shi)(shi), 便(bian)损(sun)(sun)众美(mei)。自(zi)(zi)今已(yi)后(hou),不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)得不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)存(cun)形(xing)迹(ji)。”居数日(ri),太(tai)宗问征曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue):“昨 来(lai)在外(wai),闻有(you)(you)(you)(you)(you)何不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)是(shi)(shi)事(shi)(shi)?”征曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue): “前日(ri)令(ling)彦(yan)博(bo)宣敕语臣(chen)(chen)(chen)(chen)云(yun)(yun): ‘因何 不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)存(cun)形(xing)迹(ji)?’此(ci)(ci)言(yan)(yan)大(da)(da)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)是(shi)(shi)。臣(chen)(chen)(chen)(chen)闻君臣(chen)(chen)(chen)(chen)同气,义均一(yi)体。未(wei)(wei)(wei)闻不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)存(cun)公道,惟(wei)事(shi)(shi)形(xing)迹(ji)。若(ruo)君臣(chen)(chen)(chen)(chen)上下(xia)(xia)(xia),同遵此(ci)(ci)路(lu),则(ze)邦(bang)国之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)兴(xing)丧(sang),或未(wei)(wei)(wei)可(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)知(zhi)(zhi)!” 太(tai)宗瞿(ju)然(ran)改(gai)容曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue):“前发此(ci)(ci)语,寻(xun)已(yi)悔(hui)(hui)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),实(shi)大(da)(da)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)是(shi)(shi),公亦不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)得遂怀 隐避。”征乃(nai)(nai)拜(bai)而(er)言(yan)(yan)曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue): “臣(chen)(chen)(chen)(chen)以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)身(shen)许国,直(zhi)(zhi)道而(er)行(xing),必(bi)(bi)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)敢(gan)有(you)(you)(you)(you)(you)所(suo)(suo)欺(qi)(qi)(qi)负 。但愿陛(bi)下(xia)(xia)(xia)使(shi)(shi)臣(chen)(chen)(chen)(chen)为(wei)良臣(chen)(chen)(chen)(chen),勿使(shi)(shi)臣(chen)(chen)(chen)(chen)为(wei)忠(zhong)(zhong)臣(chen)(chen)(chen)(chen)。”太(tai)宗曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue): “忠(zhong)(zhong)良有(you)(you)(you)(you)(you)异乎? ”征曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue): “良臣(chen)(chen)(chen)(chen)使(shi)(shi)身(shen)获美(mei)名,君受显号,子孙传世,福(fu)禄无(wu)(wu)疆(jiang)。忠(zhong)(zhong)臣(chen)(chen)(chen)(chen) 身(shen)受诛(zhu)夷(yi),君陷(xian)大(da)(da)恶,家国并丧(sang),独(du)有(you)(you)(you)(you)(you)其(qi)(qi)(qi)(qi)名。以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)此(ci)(ci)而(er)言(yan)(yan),相(xiang)去远(yuan)矣(yi)。”太(tai)宗曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue): “君但莫(mo)违(wei)此(ci)(ci)言(yan)(yan),我必(bi)(bi)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)忘社(she)(she)稷之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)计。 ”乃(nai)(nai)赐绢二(er)百(bai)匹。 贞(zhen)观(guan)六(liu)年(nian)(nian)(nian),匈奴克平,远(yuan)夷(yi)入贡,符(fu)瑞日(ri)至,年(nian)(nian)(nian)谷频(pin)登。岳牧等(deng)屡请(qing)封禅,群臣(chen)(chen)(chen)(chen)等(deng)又称述功(gong)德,以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)为(wei)“时不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)可(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)失(shi),天不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)可(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)违(wei),今行(xing)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi) ,臣(chen)(chen)(chen)(chen)等(deng)犹谓其(qi)(qi)(qi)(qi)晚(wan)”。惟(wei)魏征以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)为(wei)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)可(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)。太(tai)宗曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue):“朕(zhen)欲(yu)(yu)得卿直(zhi)(zhi)言(yan)(yan)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi), 勿有(you)(you)(you)(you)(you)所(suo)(suo)隐。朕(zhen)功(gong)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)高耶(ye)(ye)(ye)?”曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue): “高矣(yi)。 ”“德未(wei)(wei)(wei)厚(hou)耶(ye)(ye)(ye)? ”曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)::厚(hou) 矣(yi)。”“华夏(xia)未(wei)(wei)(wei)安耶(ye)(ye)(ye)? ”曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue): “安矣(yi)。 ”“远(yuan)夷(yi)未(wei)(wei)(wei)慕(mu)(mu)耶(ye)(ye)(ye)? ”曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue): “慕(mu)(mu) 矣(yi)。”“符(fu)端未(wei)(wei)(wei)至耶(ye)(ye)(ye)? ”曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue): “至矣(yi)。 ”年(nian)(nian)(nian)谷未(wei)(wei)(wei)登耶(ye)(ye)(ye)? ”曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue): “登矣(yi) 。”然(ran)则(ze)何为(wei)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)可(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)? ”对曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue): “陛(bi)下(xia)(xia)(xia)功(gong)高矣(yi),民未(wei)(wei)(wei)怀惠。德厚(hou)矣(yi),泽 未(wei)(wei)(wei)旁流。华夏(xia)安矣(yi),未(wei)(wei)(wei)足(zu)以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)供(gong)事(shi)(shi)。远(yuan)夷(yi)慕(mu)(mu)矣(yi),无(wu)(wu)以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)供(gong)其(qi)(qi)(qi)(qi)求。符(fu)端虽(sui)臻,而(er)罗(luo)犹密。积(ji)岁丰(feng)稔,而(er)仓廪尚虚。此(ci)(ci)臣(chen)(chen)(chen)(chen)所(suo)(suo)以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)窃(qie)(qie)谓未(wei)(wei)(wei)可(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)。臣(chen)(chen)(chen)(chen)未(wei)(wei)(wei)能(neng) 远(yuan)譬,且(qie)借近喻于(yu)人(ren)(ren)。有(you)(you)(you)(you)(you)人(ren)(ren)长患(huan)疼痛(tong),不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)能(neng)任(ren)持(chi),疗(liao)理且(qie)愈,皮骨(gu)仅存(cun),便(bian)欲(yu)(yu)负一(yi)石米,日(ri)行(xing)百(bai)里,必(bi)(bi)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)可(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)得。隋氏之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)乱,非(fei)止(zhi)十年(nian)(nian)(nian)。陛(bi)下(xia)(xia)(xia)为(wei)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)良医,除(chu)(chu)其(qi)(qi)(qi)(qi)疾苦,虽(sui)已(yi)安,未(wei)(wei)(wei)甚充实(shi),告成天地(di),臣(chen)(chen)(chen)(chen)窃(qie)(qie)有(you)(you)(you)(you)(you)疑 。且(qie)陛(bi)下(xia)(xia)(xia)东封,万(wan)国咸萃,要荒之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)外(wai),莫(mo)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)奔(ben)驰。今自(zi)(zi)伊、洛之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)东,暨(ji)乎海、岱(dai),萑莽(mang)巨(ju)泽,茫茫千里,人(ren)(ren)烟断(duan)(duan)(duan)绝,鸡(ji)犬(quan)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)闻,道路(lu)萧(xiao)条(tiao),进退艰阻。宁可(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)引彼戎狄,示以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)虚弱?竭财以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)赏,未(wei)(wei)(wei)厌远(yuan)人(ren)(ren)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)望;加年(nian)(nian)(nian)给复(fu),不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)偿百(bai)姓之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)劳(lao)。或遇水旱之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)灾,风雨之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)变,庸(yong)夫(fu)邪议,悔(hui)(hui)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)可(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)追。岂(qi)(qi)独(du)臣(chen)(chen)(chen)(chen)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)诚恳,亦有(you)(you)(you)(you)(you)舆人(ren)(ren)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)论。”太(tai)宗称善,于(yu)是(shi)(shi)乃(nai)(nai)止(zhi)。 贞(zhen)观(guan)七年(nian)(nian)(nian),蜀王妃父(fu)杨誉,在省竞婢,都官郎中(zhong)(zhong)薛仁(ren)方(fang)(fang)(fang)留身(shen)勘问,未(wei)(wei)(wei)及(ji)予夺。其(qi)(qi)(qi)(qi)子为(wei)千牛,于(yu)殿庭(ting)陈诉云(yun)(yun):“五品(pin)以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)上非(fei)反逆不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)合(he)留 身(shen),以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)是(shi)(shi)国亲,故(gu)生节目,不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)肯决断(duan)(duan)(duan),淹留岁月。”太(tai)宗闻之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),怒曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue) :“知(zhi)(zhi)是(shi)(shi)我亲戚(qi),故(gu)作如此(ci)(ci)艰难。”即(ji)令(ling)杖仁(ren)方(fang)(fang)(fang)一(yi)百(bai),解所(suo)(suo)任(ren)官。魏 征进曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue):“城狐社(she)(she)鼠皆微物,为(wei)其(qi)(qi)(qi)(qi)有(you)(you)(you)(you)(you)所(suo)(suo)凭恃,故(gu)除(chu)(chu)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)犹不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)易。况世家贵戚(qi),旧号难理,汉、晋以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)来(lai),不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)能(neng)禁御(yu)(yu),武德之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)中(zhong)(zhong),以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)多(duo)骄(jiao)纵,陛(bi)下(xia)(xia)(xia)登极,方(fang)(fang)(fang)始萧(xiao)条(tiao)。仁(ren)方(fang)(fang)(fang)既是(shi)(shi)职司,能(neng)为(wei)国家守法(fa),岂(qi)(qi)可(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)枉(wang)加刑罚(fa),以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)成外(wai)戚(qi)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)私(si)乎!此(ci)(ci)源一(yi)开,万(wan)端争起,后(hou)必(bi)(bi)悔(hui)(hui)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi),将(jiang)无(wu)(wu)所(suo)(suo)及(ji)。自(zi)(zi)古能(neng)禁断(duan)(duan)(duan)此(ci)(ci)事(shi)(shi),惟(wei)陛(bi)下(xia)(xia)(xia)一(yi)人(ren)(ren)。备豫不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)虞(yu),为(wei)国常道,岂(qi)(qi)可(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)以(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)(yi)水未(wei)(wei)(wei)横流,便(bian)欲(yu)(yu)自(zi)(zi)毁堤防?臣(chen)(chen)(chen)(chen)窃(qie)(qie)思度,未(wei)(wei)(wei)见其(qi)(qi)(qi)(qi)可(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)(ke)。”太(tai)宗曰(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue)(yue): “诚如公言(yan)(yan),向者(zhe) 不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)思。然(ran)仁(ren)方(fang)(fang)(fang)辄禁不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)言(yan)(yan),颇是(shi)(shi)专权(quan)(quan),虽(sui)不(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)(bu)合(he)重罪(zui),宜(yi)少加惩肃。”乃(nai)(nai) 令(ling)杖二(er)十而(er)赦(she)之(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)(zhi)。
贞观八(ba)年,左(zuo)仆(pu)射房玄(xuan)(xuan)(xuan)龄(ling)(ling)、右仆(pu)射高士(shi)廉于路逢少(shao)府监(jian)窦(dou)德(de)素,问(wen)(wen)北(bei)门近(jin)来更(geng)何(he)(he)营(ying)造。德(de)素以闻(wen)。太宗乃(nai)谓玄(xuan)(xuan)(xuan)龄(ling)(ling)曰(yue):“君但(dan)知(zhi)(zhi)南衙事 ,我北(bei)门少(shao)有营(ying)造,何(he)(he)预君事?”玄(xuan)(xuan)(xuan)龄(ling)(ling)等(deng)拜谢。魏征进(jin)曰(yue):“臣(chen)不(bu)(bu)(bu)解(jie)(jie) 陛(bi)下(xia)责,亦不(bu)(bu)(bu)解(jie)(jie)玄(xuan)(xuan)(xuan)龄(ling)(ling)、士(shi)廉拜谢。玄(xuan)(xuan)(xuan)龄(ling)(ling)既任(ren)大(da)臣(chen),即(ji)陛(bi)下(xia)股肱耳目,有所(suo)营(ying)造,何(he)(he)容不(bu)(bu)(bu)知(zhi)(zhi)?责其访问(wen)(wen)官(guan)司,臣(chen)所(suo)不(bu)(bu)(bu)解(jie)(jie)。且所(suo)为有利害,役(yi)工(gong)有多少(shao),陛(bi)下(xia)所(suo)为善,当助陛(bi)下(xia)成之;所(suo)为不(bu)(bu)(bu)是,虽营(ying)造,当奏陛(bi)下(xia)罢之。此(ci)乃(nai)君使臣(chen)、臣(chen)事君之道。玄(xuan)(xuan)(xuan)龄(ling)(ling)等(deng)问(wen)(wen)既无罪,而陛(bi)下(xia)责之,臣(chen)所(suo)不(bu)(bu)(bu)解(jie)(jie);玄(xuan)(xuan)(xuan)龄(ling)(ling)等(deng)不(bu)(bu)(bu)识(shi)所(suo)守,但(dan)知(zhi)(zhi)拜谢,臣(chen)亦不(bu)(bu)(bu)解(jie)(jie)。”太宗深愧之。
贞观(guan)十年,越王(wang)(wang),长孙皇(huang)后所(suo)(suo)生,太(tai)(tai)子(zi)介弟,聪敏绝伦,太(tai)(tai)宗特所(suo)(suo)宠异(yi)(yi)。或(huo)言叁品以(yi)(yi)(yi)上(shang)皆轻蔑(mie)王(wang)(wang)者(zhe),意在(zai)(zai)谮侍中魏(wei)征(zheng)(zheng)等(deng),以(yi)(yi)(yi)激上(shang)怒(nu)。上(shang)御齐政(zheng)殿,引叁品已(yi)上(shang)入坐定,大(da)怒(nu)作色而(er)言曰:“我有(you)一言,向(xiang) 公(gong)等(deng)道。往前天(tian)(tian)(tian)子(zi),即(ji)是(shi)天(tian)(tian)(tian)子(zi),今(jin)(jin)(jin)时天(tian)(tian)(tian)子(zi),非(fei)天(tian)(tian)(tian)子(zi)耶?往年天(tian)(tian)(tian)子(zi)儿,是(shi)天(tian)(tian)(tian)子(zi)儿,今(jin)(jin)(jin)日天(tian)(tian)(tian)子(zi)儿,非(fei)天(tian)(tian)(tian)子(zi)儿耶?我见(jian)隋(sui)家诸王(wang)(wang),达官已(yi)下,皆不(bu)免被其踬(zhi)(zhi)顿。我之(zhi)(zhi)儿子(zi),自不(bu)许其纵横,公(gong)等(deng)所(suo)(suo)容(rong)易过,得相共轻蔑(mie)。我若(ruo)纵之(zhi)(zhi),岂不(bu)能踬(zhi)(zhi)顿公(gong)等(deng)!”玄(xuan)龄(ling)等(deng)战(zhan)栗(li),皆拜谢。征(zheng)(zheng)正色而(er) 谏(jian)曰:“当今(jin)(jin)(jin)群臣,必无(wu)(wu)轻蔑(mie)越王(wang)(wang)者(zhe)。然在(zai)(zai)礼,臣、子(zi)一例,《传》称,王(wang)(wang)人(ren)虽微,列入诸侯之(zhi)(zhi)上(shang)。诸侯用之(zhi)(zhi)为(wei)(wei)公(gong),即(ji)是(shi)公(gong);用之(zhi)(zhi)为(wei)(wei)卿,即(ji)是(shi)卿。若(ruo)不(bu)为(wei)(wei)公(gong)卿,即(ji)下士于诸侯也。今(jin)(jin)(jin)叁品以(yi)(yi)(yi)上(shang),列为(wei)(wei)公(gong)卿,并天(tian)(tian)(tian)子(zi)大(da)臣,陛下所(suo)(suo)加(jia)敬(jing)异(yi)(yi)。纵其小有(you)不(bu)是(shi),越王(wang)(wang)何得辄(zhe)加(jia)折辱(ru)?若(ruo)国家纪纲(gang)废坏,臣所(suo)(suo)不(bu)知。以(yi)(yi)(yi)当今(jin)(jin)(jin)圣(sheng)明(ming)之(zhi)(zhi)时,越王(wang)(wang)岂得如此(ci)。且隋(sui)高祖不(bu)知礼义,宠树诸王(wang)(wang),使行无(wu)(wu)礼,寻以(yi)(yi)(yi)罪黜,不(bu)可(ke)为(wei)(wei)法(fa)(fa),亦何足(zu)道?”太(tai)(tai)宗闻其言,喜形于色,谓群臣曰: “凡(fan)人(ren)言语理(li)到,不(bu)可(ke)不(bu)伏。 朕之(zhi)(zhi)所(suo)(suo)言,当身(shen)私爱;魏(wei)征(zheng)(zheng)所(suo)(suo)论,国家大(da)法(fa)(fa)。朕向(xiang)者(zhe)忿怒(nu),自谓理(li)在(zai)(zai)不(bu)疑(yi),及见(jian)魏(wei)征(zheng)(zheng)所(suo)(suo)论,始觉大(da)非(fei)道理(li)。为(wei)(wei)人(ren)君言,何可(ke)容(rong)易!”召玄(xuan) 龄(ling)等(deng)而(er)切责之(zhi)(zhi),赐征(zheng)(zheng)绢一千匹。
贞观(guan)十(shi)一年(nian)(nian),所(suo)司(si)奏(zou)凌(ling)敬(jing)乞贷(dai)之(zhi)状,太(tai)宗(zong)责侍(shi)中魏征(zheng)等(deng)(deng)滥(lan)进人(ren)(ren)(ren)。征(zheng)曰(yue)(yue):“臣(chen)等(deng)(deng)每蒙顾问,常具言(yan)(yan)其(qi)长(zhang)短。有(you)学识,强(qiang)谏(jian)(jian)诤,是(shi)(shi)其(qi)所(suo)长(zhang);爱(ai)生活,好经营,是(shi)(shi)其(qi)所(suo)短。今凌(ling)敬(jing)为(wei)(wei)人(ren)(ren)(ren)作碑文,教人(ren)(ren)(ren)读《汉(han)书(shu)(shu)》,因兹附托,回(hui)易求利,与臣(chen)等(deng)(deng)所(suo)说不(bu)(bu)(bu)同。陛(bi)下未(wei)用(yong)其(qi)长(zhang),惟见(jian)其(qi)短,以(yi)(yi)(yi)为(wei)(wei)臣(chen)等(deng)(deng)欺(qi)罔,实不(bu)(bu)(bu)敢心伏。”太(tai)宗(zong)纳(na)之(zhi)。 贞观(guan)十(shi)二年(nian)(nian),太(tai)宗(zong)谓(wei)魏征(zheng)曰(yue)(yue):“比(bi)(bi)来(lai)所(suo)行得(de)失政化(hua),何(he)如(ru)(ru)往(wang)前? ”对曰(yue)(yue): “若(ruo)恩威所(suo)加(jia)(jia)(jia)(jia),远(yuan)夷(yi)朝贡,比(bi)(bi)于(yu)贞观(guan)之(zhi)始,不(bu)(bu)(bu)可(ke)等(deng)(deng)级(ji)(ji)而(er)(er)言(yan)(yan)。 若(ruo)德(de)(de)(de)义潜通,民心悦(yue)服,比(bi)(bi)于(yu)贞观(guan)之(zhi)初(chu),相去又甚远(yuan)。”太(tai)宗(zong)曰(yue)(yue): “ 远(yuan)夷(yi)来(lai)服,应由德(de)(de)(de)义所(suo)加(jia)(jia)(jia)(jia)。往(wang)前功业,何(he)因益大(da)(da)?”征(zheng)曰(yue)(yue): “昔者四(si) 方(fang)未(wei)定,常以(yi)(yi)(yi)德(de)(de)(de)义为(wei)(wei)心。旋以(yi)(yi)(yi)海(hai)内(nei)无(wu)虞(yu),渐加(jia)(jia)(jia)(jia)骄奢自溢。所(suo)以(yi)(yi)(yi)功业虽盛,终不(bu)(bu)(bu)如(ru)(ru)往(wang)初(chu)。”太(tai)宗(zong)又曰(yue)(yue): “所(suo)行比(bi)(bi)往(wang)前何(he)为(wei)(wei)异? ”征(zheng)曰(yue)(yue): “贞 观(guan)之(zhi)初(chu),恐人(ren)(ren)(ren)不(bu)(bu)(bu)言(yan)(yan),导之(zhi)使谏(jian)(jian)。叁年(nian)(nian)已后(hou),见(jian)人(ren)(ren)(ren)谏(jian)(jian),悦(yue)而(er)(er)从(cong)之(zhi)。一二年(nian)(nian)来(lai),不(bu)(bu)(bu)悦(yue)人(ren)(ren)(ren)谏(jian)(jian),虽黾勉听(ting)受(shou),而(er)(er)意(yi)(yi)终不(bu)(bu)(bu)平,谅有(you)难色(se)。”太(tai)宗(zong)曰(yue)(yue): “于(yu)何(he)事如(ru)(ru)此? ”对曰(yue)(yue): “即(ji)位之(zhi)初(chu),处元律师死(si)罪(zui),孙伏伽谏(jian)(jian)曰(yue)(yue): ‘法(fa)不(bu)(bu)(bu)至(zhi)死(si),无(wu)容滥(lan)加(jia)(jia)(jia)(jia)酷罚。 ’遂赐以(yi)(yi)(yi)兰陵公(gong)(gong)主园,直钱百万。人(ren)(ren)(ren)或 曰(yue)(yue):‘所(suo)言(yan)(yan)乃常事,而(er)(er)所(suo)赏(shang)太(tai)厚。’答曰(yue)(yue): ‘我(wo)即(ji)位来(lai),未(wei)有(you)谏(jian)(jian)者, 所(suo)以(yi)(yi)(yi)赏(shang)之(zhi)。’此导之(zhi)使言(yan)(yan)也。徐(xu)州司(si)户(hu)柳雄于(yu)隋资妄加(jia)(jia)(jia)(jia)阶级(ji)(ji)。人(ren)(ren)(ren)有(you)告之(zhi)者,陛(bi)下令其(qi)自首(shou),不(bu)(bu)(bu)首(shou)与罪(zui)。遂固言(yan)(yan)是(shi)(shi)实,竟不(bu)(bu)(bu)肯首(shou)。大(da)(da)理(li)推得(de)其(qi)伪,将处雄死(si)罪(zui),少卿戴胄(zhou)奏(zou)法(fa)止合(he)徒。陛(bi)下曰(yue)(yue):‘我(wo)已与其(qi)断当 讫,但当与死(si)罪(zui)。’胄(zhou)曰(yue)(yue): ‘陛(bi)下既不(bu)(bu)(bu)然,即(ji)付(fu)臣(chen)法(fa)司(si)。罪(zui)不(bu)(bu)(bu)合(he)死(si), 不(bu)(bu)(bu)可(ke)酷滥(lan)。’陛(bi)下作色(se)遣杀,胄(zhou)执之(zhi)不(bu)(bu)(bu)已,至(zhi)于(yu)四(si)五(wu),然后(hou)赦之(zhi)。乃谓(wei)法(fa)司(si)曰(yue)(yue):‘但能为(wei)(wei)我(wo)如(ru)(ru)此守法(fa),岂畏滥(lan)有(you)诛(zhu)夷(yi)。’此则悦(yue)以(yi)(yi)(yi)从(cong)谏(jian)(jian)也 。往(wang)年(nian)(nian)陕县丞皇甫德(de)(de)(de)参(can)上书(shu)(shu),大(da)(da)忤(wu)圣旨(zhi),陛(bi)下以(yi)(yi)(yi)为(wei)(wei)讪谤(bang)。臣(chen)奏(zou)称上书(shu)(shu)不(bu)(bu)(bu)激切(qie),不(bu)(bu)(bu)能起(qi)人(ren)(ren)(ren)主意(yi)(yi),激切(qie)即(ji)似讪谤(bang)。于(yu)时虽从(cong)臣(chen)言(yan)(yan),赏(shang)物二十(shi)段,意(yi)(yi)甚不(bu)(bu)(bu)平,难于(yu)受(shou)谏(jian)(jian)也。”太(tai)宗(zong)曰(yue)(yue): “诚如(ru)(ru)公(gong)(gong)言(yan)(yan),非公(gong)(gong)无(wu)能道此者 。人(ren)(ren)(ren)皆苦不(bu)(bu)(bu)自觉,公(gong)(gong)向(xiang)未(wei)道时,都自谓(wei)所(suo)行不(bu)(bu)(bu)变。及见(jian)公(gong)(gong)论说,过(guo)失堪(kan)惊。公(gong)(gong)但存(cun)此心,朕(zhen)终不(bu)(bu)(bu)违公(gong)(gong)语。”
